Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the main purpose of the letter and include relevant information about your ten years of truck-driving experience, your move to Canada, and the support you want with winter driving and difficult road conditions. You also suggest meeting during your first trip. However, the previous-studies part is not covered, and the mentor’s age, experience and driving record take space without helping you introduce your own background. The meeting request is also quite narrow: asking the mentor to accompany you on a trip does not clearly offer a time or alternative arrangement. To strengthen the response, cover every bullet directly, explain one or two specific learning goals, and propose a practical first meeting, such as a short conversation before your first trip.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable sequence: you introduce the situation, describe your experience, explain why you need guidance, and close with a request. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages. However, progression is weakened by the opening focus on the mentor’s biography before your own introduction, and several ideas are repeated, particularly the hope that the mentor will teach you properly. Connections between sentences are often basic, with repeated use of “so” and “and,” while references such as “he” and “you” shift without a clear reason. Organise the letter around the three task points and use clearer links such as “As this will be my first driving job in Canada” and “Could we meet before my first trip?”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the job, including “truck driver,” “driving record,” “winter weather,” and “road condition,” so the reader can understand the general situation. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “20 years experienced,” “I am work,” and “teach me properly.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “writting,” “imoportant,” and “mentro,” are noticeable and reduce the overall control of vocabulary. Aim to learn common workplace collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe your background as “ten years of experience as a truck driver” and ask for “guidance on driving safely in winter conditions.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most of the message can be understood, and you attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining that this will be your first time driving in Canada and that winter conditions concern you. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic forms. Examples include “I am work” instead of “I work,” “he has a 20 years experienced,” and “I am drive the truck.” Articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Use simple, accurate sentences as a foundation, then add a few controlled complex sentences: “Because this will be my first winter in Canada, I would appreciate advice on driving in snow and ice.”
