Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the main purposes of the letter: you introduce your psychology studies and counselling experience, explain that you want guidance working with children with ADHD, and suggest meeting at a nearby café after work. These details are relevant and make the letter personal. However, the study and work background is compressed into one long sentence, and the help you want is described generally as “your wisdom” rather than specifying what advice or support would be useful. The meeting proposal is also incomplete: you name a place and time but do not suggest a particular day or ask whether it suits your mentor. Developing these points more fully and making the request explicit would make the letter more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to your background, then your request for support and a meeting proposal, followed by a polite closing. Paragraphing helps separate the main ideas, and connectors such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” guide the reader. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “In addition” and “Therefore,” and the transition from your experience to the meeting suggestion is abrupt. The sentence beginning “In addition, working with the children…” combines your lack of experience, request for help, and meeting arrangements, making the progression less clear. Separate these ideas and use more direct links between them to improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the context, including “postgraduate degree,” “counselling,” “ADHD,” and “mentor,” and the reader can understand your main message. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “valuable experience” and “strong skills.” However, spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “postgraducation,” “feild,” “nessessary,” and “experince.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “build a good connection with the client” and “a better place where we can meet.” Choose more natural collocations and proofread spelling carefully. For example, “develop rapport with clients” and “a convenient place to meet” would express your meaning more clearly and appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a mentor … who gives them advice” (in the task context) and a longer sentence describing your studies and experience. The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “I am writing to give brief introduction” needs an article, while “which i have done recently from the one of the college” has an unclear clause structure and article use. The fragment “In addition, working with the children …, still i have lack…” also needs a complete main clause and more accurate tense and sentence construction. Practise breaking long sentences into clear clauses, and check articles, capitalisation, and punctuation.
