Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requested points and maintain a clear, appropriate purpose: you introduce your nursing studies and healthcare experience, explain that you want guidance with workplace procedures and career development, and propose a specific time and meeting place. These details make the letter relevant and practical. The request for help is reasonably clear, although “guide me in making right decisions” could be made more specific by naming the kinds of decisions you expect to face. The opening and closing are also suitable in intent, but the sign-off should be corrected to “Yours faithfully” for a more polished formal letter. Overall, the task is covered clearly, with some scope to develop the support you hope to receive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The letter follows a logical sequence: introduction, background, expectations of the mentor, meeting arrangements, and a courteous close. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “Regarding my previous studies” and “I hope” make the progression easy to follow. The meeting proposal is especially clear because it gives a day, time, and two possible locations. To make the organisation feel more polished, connect the study and work details more smoothly and avoid slightly repetitive phrasing, such as repeating “my” in “my communication and my teamwork skills.” The overall progression is clear and cohesive; more natural linking and tighter phrasing would make the connections less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a professional introduction, including “healthcare sector,” “communication,” “teamwork skills,” “career,” and “professional standards.” These choices communicate your background and expectations effectively. There are, however, several word-choice, spelling, and collocation slips that reduce precision: “pleasure a having” should be “pleasure in having,” “company working procedure” is more naturally “company procedures,” and “which ever” should be “whichever.” “Professionnal” is also misspelled. These errors do not prevent understanding, but careful proofreading and more natural workplace collocations would improve control. Aim to use precise phrases rather than relying on general expressions such as “learning new things.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the conditional-style question “Would you be available…?” and the relative clause “which ever is more convenient for your.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors appear in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “I recently join” should be “I recently joined,” and “a bachelor degree” needs the article “a” before “bachelor’s degree” or a revised construction such as “a bachelor’s degree in nursing science.” In “I would also like to guide me,” the structure should be “I would also like you to guide me.” Check sentence boundaries and punctuation too, particularly the missing space after “science.” More accurate control of these forms would strengthen the letter.
