Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the main purpose by introducing yourself, mentioning welding studies and previous work, explaining that you want help improving your skills, and asking for a first meeting. These details are relevant, but the outline of your studies and experience is very brief, and the help you seek is mostly limited to improving welding skills. The meeting arrangement is also incomplete: asking your mentor to speak loudly explains your hearing needs, but you do not suggest a time, place, or way to arrange the meeting. The letter therefore covers the requested points only partially, with ideas that need clearer development. Add a specific meeting proposal and explain what guidance you hope to receive about your career or workplace.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The information follows a generally understandable order: you introduce yourself, describe your background, state what support you want, and refer to the first meeting. However, nearly all of this is placed in one long paragraph, so the progression is difficult to see at a glance. Linking phrases such as “In addition” and “On that way” are used, but the latter does not clearly express the relationship between your hearing needs and your response to instructions. Some ideas also run together without adequate punctuation. Separate the background, support request, and meeting arrangements into clear paragraphs, and use straightforward links such as “For our first meeting” to guide the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the basic topic, with relevant terms such as “mentor,” “welding skills,” “apprentice,” and “instructions.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which can make the letter less clear or polished. For example, “inform that I am new worker” and “expand my knowledge with you” do not express your meaning naturally, while “low hearing capacity” is an awkward way to describe your hearing difficulty. There are also spelling errors, including “Empoy” and “greatful.” Aim for more conventional workplace expressions and check spelling carefully; this will make your message easier to understand and more appropriate for a professional letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The letter communicates its main points, but it relies heavily on simple sentence patterns, and attempts to combine several ideas often produce errors. For example, “I want to introduce to you my last course that I have taken is about welding” contains an unclear sentence structure, while “I hope that you could help me improved” has an incorrect verb form. Articles and agreement are also problematic in “I am new worker” and “the mentor that our manager assign to me.” Punctuation is frequently missing after sentence boundaries, causing ideas to run together. Practise building clear sentences with one main idea each, and check articles, verb forms, and punctuation before sending the letter.
