Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you outline your physiotherapy degree and work experience, identify support you need with exercise progression for surgical patients, and suggest Monday or Tuesday afternoon for a first meeting. The specific example of difficulty progressing exercises makes your request relevant, and asking your mentor to choose a suitable time is appropriate. The letter is therefore complete and purposeful. However, the studies and work history are presented briefly, and the request for guidance could be developed further by explaining what aspect of your career or patient work you most want to improve. The opening and closing are also not fully suited to a professional letter: “Dear Mentor” is generic, while “Your faithfully” is an incorrect sign-off. More personalised, conventional letter conventions would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear overall progression: introduction, background, request for support, meeting arrangements, and closing. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these purposes, and linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “In addition to that” make the sequence easy to follow. The meeting proposal is also logically framed, with your availability followed by an invitation for the mentor to suggest another time. Some transitions feel formulaic, however, and the repeated use of explicit connectors is more noticeable than necessary in a short letter. The opening paragraph also repeats the idea of introducing your studies and experience. A more direct opening and smoother links between ideas would make the organisation feel more natural and flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the workplace and your profession, including “mentor,” “career,” “exercise therapist,” and “surgical patients.” Phrases such as “shed some light” and “time availability” show an attempt to use language beyond basic vocabulary. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “informations,” “comapny,” “exprience,” “appericiate,” and “delpth.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “help me about some exercise programs” and “progress exercises of surgical patients” do not express your meaning idiomatically. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but careful proofreading and learning common professional collocations would make your vocabulary more precise and reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the conditional request “I will appreciate it if you can help me” and the contrast introduced by “however.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the sentence structures are generally sufficient for this letter. Some grammatical errors persist, though. The sentence “My name is Julee Domadiya, I have been working…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma; use a full stop or a conjunction. “I have 3 years of experience” would be more accurate as “I have three years’ experience,” and “I find difficulties” needs a different grammatical pattern, such as “I have difficulty.” Review sentence boundaries, articles, and noun forms to improve control.
