Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, many doctors say that people can get all the vitamins they need by having a healthy and balanced diet. However, a few individuals still spend a lot of money on vitamin pills. I think this happens because of their hectic lifestyles, advertising and people's lack of knowledge.
One main reason is that many people believe that taking vitamin pills is a quick and easy solution. In modern life, people are busy with their work, study and family responsibilities, so they do not have time to cook healthy foods every day. As a result, they think that taking a vitamin tablet is easier than preparing fresh food. For instance, a person who eats fast food regularly may take multivitamins because they believe it will cover the missing nutrients in their diet.
Another reason is advertising. Many companies promote vitamin pills as essential for energy, immunity, skin, hair, and overall health. Because of this, people may feel that they need supplements even when they are not actually deficient. Some people also follow advice from social media influencers instead of getting proper medical advice.
People can be persuaded to improve their diet through education and awareness. Schools, doctors, and governments should teach people that natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and dairy products can provide important vitamins. Doctors should also explain that vitamin pills are only necessary when a person has a real deficiency or a medical need.
In conclusion, people spend money on vitamins because they want a quick solution and are influenced by advertising. However, they can be encouraged to eat better through education, doctors, and governments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt clearly. You have identified two distinct reasons for the consumption of vitamin pills—hectic lifestyles and the influence of advertising—and provided a logical set of solutions involving education and medical guidance. The ideas are well-developed and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of fast food and social media influencers. The position is clear throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the main points. To reach a higher band, you could further extend your arguments by discussing the long-term implications of relying on supplements versus natural food sources.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. You have used a variety of cohesive devices such as 'However', 'As a result', 'For instance', and 'Another reason is', which help to link your points effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the overall clarity of the response. The flow between sentences is smooth, and there is no evidence of mechanical or repetitive linking.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with precision. Phrases like 'hectic lifestyles', 'medical deficiency', and 'overall health' are used appropriately. While the vocabulary is accurate and fits the context well, it remains somewhat standard. To achieve a higher band, you could incorporate more sophisticated or less common lexical items, such as 'nutritional gaps', 'ubiquitous advertising', or 'preventative measures', to show greater flexibility and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay displays a good control of grammar with a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, and the punctuation is used correctly throughout. You successfully use complex structures, such as 'Because of this, people may feel that they need supplements even when they are not actually deficient.' There are no significant grammatical errors that impede communication. To improve further, ensure you continue to vary your sentence length and structure to maintain a high level of fluency.
