Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, doctors advice for healthy diet because it contains required vitamins for human body. Although, number of people buy vitamin pills rather than, following the doctor's advice. In this essay I will discuss reasons and solution in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, more and more public buying vitamin pills instead of, focusing on diet. I believe, byers find it is a very easy way to take vitamin , because for diet you have to eat variety of food. For example, red meat contains vitamin E, Omega, green vegetables contains Fiber, and fruits have vitamin C. So my point is people have to eat balanced diet. While most of the people are on diet and fat cutoff mode so they can not eat everything, due to that they take pills. Moreover, some people are vegetarian or vegan they do not take any nonveg product or plant based product. In addition, one main reason is convenience. Taking a multivitamin tablet seems to be quick and simple way to ensure that they are taking enough supplement. For example, certain social media advertisements claming that splements provide enough immunity, energy, and strength.

There are several ways to persuade people to improve their diet instead. Firstly, schools, healthcare professionals and governments could provide clear information about the benefits of eating fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains and other nutritious foods. People should also be made aware that supplements cannot replace a healthy and balanced diet in most cases. Secondly, healthy foods should be made more affordable and easily available. For instance, supermarkets could offer discounts on fresh produce, while governments could support educational campaigns about healthy eating.

In conclusion, people often purchase vitamin pills because they are convenient and are strongly promoted as an easy way to improve health. However, better nutritional education and greater access to affordable healthy food could persuade more people to obtain their nutrients naturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for vitamin pill consumption and ways to persuade people to improve their diet. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. The first body paragraph explores convenience and dietary restrictions, while the second offers practical solutions like education and affordability. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the explanation regarding 'fat cutoff mode' is slightly unclear and could have been more precisely articulated. Overall, the response maintains a clear position throughout and covers all requirements of the task effectively, meeting the criteria for a Band 6.5 or 7.0. Given the clarity of the arguments, it leans towards a 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The introduction sets the stage, and the conclusion summarizes the main points. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'Firstly', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some sentences are disjointed due to punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary comma in 'instead of, focusing'. While the progression is generally clear, the use of referencing could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'nutritious', 'supplements', and 'immunity'. However, there are several spelling errors ('byers', 'claming', 'splements') and minor word-choice issues ('nonveg product'). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but the lack of more precise or sophisticated collocations limits the score. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and expanding their range of academic vocabulary to avoid repetition of basic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a healthy diet', 'the human body'), subject-verb agreement ('doctors advice' instead of 'advise'), and punctuation. For example, the sentence 'Although, number of people buy...' is grammatically incorrect. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. The student needs to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips to improve their accuracy.
