Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for supplement use and strategies for improvement. The ideas are relevant, such as the 'fast-paced nature of modern life' and 'marketing campaigns'. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation of solutions is a bit brief, and the conclusion is incomplete and lacks a clear summary of the main points. While the position is clear throughout, the ideas could be extended further to reach a higher band. The response covers all parts of the task well, but the lack of depth in the second half prevents it from reaching the highest level of development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To initiate', 'Consequently', and 'Turning to solutions', although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, though the final paragraph is fragmented and incomplete. Referencing is mostly clear, but there are instances where the flow is interrupted by grammatical errors or missing words, which slightly affects the overall coherence. The structure is sufficient to follow the argument, but more sophisticated linking would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You demonstrate an ability to use topic-specific terms like 'nutritional meals', 'dietary supplements', and 'synthetic supplements'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'supermat dule' (likely a typo for supermarket) and 'comparales persuasive advertisement'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'subsides' instead of 'subsidies' and 'thes' instead of 'these'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise vocabulary to achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. For example, 'nutrients require for healthy person' should be 'nutrients required for a healthy person', and 'donot' is a spelling error. There are also issues with sentence fragments and missing articles. While you attempt complex structures, the control is inconsistent. The frequency of these errors, particularly in subject-verb agreement and article usage, limits the score. To improve, focus on ensuring that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly and that basic grammatical rules are consistently applied.
