Student answer (Band 6.5)

While doctors say that a healthy diet provides all the required vitamins, many people still rely on expensive vitamin pills. The main reasons behind this are convenience and busy life. This problem can be solved by marketing and providing patients with simplified diet plans.

A lot of people rely on vitamin pills instead of food because it is more convenient. In diet plans people have to track their vitamins by recipes. On the other hand, they can just take direct pills and fulfill their body's requirement without worrying about nutritions in their food. Moreover, people are busier with their corporate life and they do not have enough time to work on their health. For example, when I started working I was so busy initially that sometimes I used to miss my lunch. So I used to complete my vitamin intake by taking pills in the morning.

People can be motivated to improve their food habits by marketing. Governments should spend money on promoting benefits of nutrition-rich diet through advertisements and schemes. In addition to this, doctors can provide their patients with simplified diet plans. Many people avoid following strict food habits, because it requires different recipes just to complete the daily vitamin quota. Doctors can solve this issue by providing recipes which contains multiple vitamins and creating food plans with less number of recipes.

To conclude, despite of doctors' advice to improve diet, many people take vitamin medicines because it is easy to track and fulfill the requirements. This can be solved by joint efforts of governments and doctors by promoting healthy foods and creating easy to follow diet plans.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing clear reasons for the popularity of vitamin pills (convenience and busy lifestyles) and suggesting practical solutions (marketing and simplified diet plans). The ideas are relevant and supported by a personal example. However, the development is somewhat basic; for instance, the suggestion of 'marketing' could be expanded with more specific examples of how such campaigns might look. The position is clear throughout, and the response maintains a consistent focus on the task requirements, meeting the criteria for a solid Band 6.5 or 7.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, such as the reasons for pill usage or the proposed solutions. Cohesive devices like 'on the other hand', 'moreover', and 'in addition to this' are used to link ideas, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the prompt. The progression of ideas is clear, and the reader can easily follow the writer's argument from start to finish.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'nutrition-rich diet', 'vitamin quota', and 'corporate life'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in collocation, such as 'less number of recipes' (should be 'fewer recipes') and 'nutritions' (should be 'nutrients'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'despite of' (should be 'despite' or 'in spite of'), 'recipes which contains' (should be 'contain'), and 'busy life' (should be 'busy lives'). Punctuation is generally correct, but the frequency of these minor errors prevents the essay from reaching the Band 7 level. The majority of sentences are understandable, and the errors do not impede communication, which is consistent with the Band 6 descriptor.
