Student answer (Band 6.5)
A healthy balanced meal is a best source of nutrients a human body require. However, people spend large sums of money on vitamin pills because of a lack of awareness regarding food we consume. But a large number of population can avoid using such pills by educating them about benefits of a healthy diet.
First of all, most individuals are not familiar with vegetables and fruits that contains around considerable amount of nutrients. Student were never taught about how a healthy diet can complete nutrients like protein, carbohydrates, zinc, magnesium, etc. Therefore, due to a lack of information about food nutrients, our generations are unaware that spending money on vitamin pill is really expensive. People have been consuming Vitamin C pills on daily basis, without knowing the fact that eating one guava can complete one's daily requirement.
Furthermore, having a balanced diet directly improves digestion and immunity in a human body. It is the duty of officials to implement certain programs that aims to educate people about benefits of a complete meal. For instance, India introduced a mid-day meal program in primary schools which provided a complete nutrition in the diet to the students. In addition, a person should know how to read food labels on the packaging, so that one should be aware about the food he is about to eat.
Overall, a lack of knowledge regarding food nutrients among people is main reason why people are still opting for expensive vitamin pills. It is the duty of the government to educate individuals and implement schemes to promote a healthy diet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for vitamin pill consumption and methods to encourage dietary changes. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of nutritional awareness and the role of government-led educational programs. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the suggestion to read food labels is a good point but could have been expanded to explain how this specifically changes consumer behavior. The position is clear throughout, and the response maintains a consistent focus on the topic, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5, though it leans toward Band 6 due to the limited depth of some arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main questions. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the use of 'them' in the introduction, which lacks a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow could be improved with more sophisticated linking phrases to achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'nutrients', 'immunity', and 'implement', which are used correctly. However, there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'complete nutrients' instead of 'obtain necessary nutrients' or 'a best source' instead of 'the best source'. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a best source', 'a large number of population') and subject-verb agreement ('fruits that contains', 'programs that aims'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'on daily basis' (missing 'a'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
