Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, doctors believe that all the vitamins we need can be obtained from a healthy diet. However, some people consume large amount of money on vitamin pills. In this essay , I will explain the main cause and the solution to improve their diets instead of buying more pills.

Firstly, the main reason is that people are not consuming a healthy diet because of their lifestyle changes . Busy work schedules have made them to over- dependence on fast food restaurants today. Hence, people , consume vitamin pills to meet their nutritional needs. As a result, they spend heavily on them . For instance, numerous people take large amounts of vitamin pills with them to office to balance their dietary needs today. Therefore, the main reason regarding for this issue has been the change in their lifestyles.

one effective solution is to change their eating habit. If people change their eating habits, they may be able to balance their nutritional needs. Even though people's busy work lives are causing them to become addicted to fast food, maintaining a proper schedule would be an effective way to solve the issue. Eating a healthy breakfast by waking up early in the morning, or finding some quality time at night for cooking can make some changes in their eating habits. For example, instead of waking up late in the morning or at night , find suitable time period in a day for cooking meals .The more they try to change ,the quicker they can adapt to this change.

In conclusion, if people can plan their daily schedules accordingly , they may be able to find a proper time to eat healthy food and can improve their diet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring why people spend money on vitamin pills (lifestyle changes and fast-food dependence) and how they can be persuaded or encouraged to improve their diet (planning schedules and finding time to cook). The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the discussion on changing habits in the third paragraph. While the ideas are relevant and support the prompt, they could be extended further with more specific examples. This performance aligns well with Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'Firstly', 'Hence', and 'In conclusion', but some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'the main reason regarding for this issue'. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional punctuation and spacing issues around commas disrupt the flow. Progression is maintained throughout the text, placing it securely at Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'nutritional needs' and 'over-dependence'. However, there are notable word choice inaccuracies and collocation errors, such as 'consume large amount of money' instead of 'spend large amounts of money', and 'eating habit' rather than the plural 'eating habits' in places. Spelling is generally accurate, but awkward phrasing like 'suitable time period in a day' limits the lexical score. Communication is not impeded, meeting the criteria for Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures like 'If people change their eating habits, they may be able to balance...'. There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures, such as 'made them to over-dependence' instead of 'made them over-dependent', and 'reason regarding for this issue'. Punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas ('essay , I' and 'people , consume'), are also noticeable. While these errors occur frequently, they rarely impede overall communication, supporting a Band 6 score.
