Student answer (Band 6.0)
In these modern times, doctors often give adviso to people that we can get all the vitamins from a healthy diet. Regardless of this suggestion, many people prefer to spend huge amounts of money on vitamin pills. This essay will explain the reasons that why people spend money on vitamin supplements and discuss how people can be convinced to improve their diet rather than buying vitamin pills.
To begin with, people purchase vitamin tablets because they are often misled by fitness influencers. In other words, social media platforms are easily accessible to everyone, which is used by fitness models to promote these products such as vitamin medicines. As a result, people buy these pills from social media sites which make profit these influencers. For example, many advertisements are posted in Instagram which influence individuals to purchase these vitamin capsules.
Furthermore, governments can organize medical information camps, which will provide knowledge that healthy diet is sufficient to provide all essential vitamins and minerals. To elaborate it, organizations can aware people about money making techniques of social media influencers. Therefore, people will be
aware that vitamin pills only benefit the influencers in terms of money and all the nutrients
can be full filled by a good diet. For instance, in 2023,
the city council of Batala organized a information camp
regarding fitness industry which enhanced the awareness of local people.
In conclusion, people spend money on vitamin pills because they are ill-advised by influencers and people can be persuaded to improve their diet instead of buying pills by organizing camps.

| Criterion | Band |
|---|---|

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the reasons why people spend money on vitamin pills—such as the influence of social media—and suggesting a solution through medical information camps organized by governments. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on social media influencers is reiterated in the conclusion without adding new depth. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the supporting examples, such as the mention of the city council of Batala in 2023, could be further elaborated to fully satisfy the higher band descriptors. Overall, the task is adequately fulfilled, meeting the basic requirements for a band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as causes in the second paragraph and solutions in the third. Cohesive devices are employed to connect sentences, including phrases like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion can sometimes feel mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reuse of 'people' and transitional phrases. Additionally, the linking within sentences occasionally lacks smoothness, keeping this criterion at a band 6.0 level.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their main ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'fitness influencers', 'vitamin supplements', and 'medical information camps'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'doctors often give adviso' instead of 'advice', and 'vitamin medicines' instead of 'supplements'. Furthermore, awkward phrasing like 'make profit these influencers' and 'full filled' detracts from precision. These limitations place the lexical resource at a band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, using relative clauses and conditional-like phrasing (e.g., 'which is used by fitness models to promote these products'). However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('social media platforms... which is used'), spelling errors ('adviso'), and awkward prepositional usage ('posted in Instagram' instead of 'on Instagram'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur often enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band, making a score of 5.5 appropriate.
