Student answer (Band 7.0)
Healthy food is regarded as an important aspect of our lives. Healthcare professionals advise people to obtain the vitamins and nutrients they need by maintaining a healthy and balanced diet. However, some people continue spending a considerable amount of money on vitamin supplements. Although this trend can be attributed mainly to a lack of nutritional knowledge and busy lifestyles, I believe that a combination of government campaigns and public education can help mitigate this concern.
One of the primary drivers of relying heavily on vitamin pills is that people are highly occupied with their complex schedule. Since individuals tend to work multiple jobs simultaneously to fulfil their daily living expenses, they are left with little time for healthy habits such as following a healthy diet, exercising regularly and taking enough sleep. This can lead people to have a multiple vitamin supplements. Another contributing factor associated with this habit is a lack of nutritional knowledge. Due to a lack of literacy, many consumers are being influenced by vitamins-related advertisements. Consequently, they are more likely to consume these pills regardless of their adverse effects.
Addressing this issue requires coordinated action from both governments and individual consumers. Government authorities can organize public food awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of healthier sources of vitamins and adverse effects of artificial supplements. This can help make people aware of consuming a heathy food. At the individual level, parents can encourage their children to eat nutritional foods by providing education related to their benefits. This can result in a gradual decline in vitamin pills. In addition, governments can enforce a complete prohibition on the pharmaceutical companies that produce these supplements by introducing a higher fine, thereby reducing this issue.
In conclusion, an excessive consumption of vitamin pills is largely attributable to busy lifestyles and limited nutritional knowledge. Nevertheless, this development can be mitigated if governments impose effective regulations on manufacturers while parents educate their children about adopting healthier habits by applying a balanced diet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by exploring both why people spend money on vitamin pills (busy lifestyles and lack of nutritional knowledge) and how they might be persuaded to improve their diet (government campaigns, parental education, and pharmaceutical regulations). Your position is clear throughout the text and supported by relevant, developed ideas. For example, you effectively explain how demanding work schedules leave little time for healthy habits, leading to reliance on supplements. However, suggesting a 'complete prohibition' on pharmaceutical companies is slightly extreme and limits the practical development of that specific idea. Overall, the task is covered thoroughly, meeting all requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
There is a clear logical organisation and progression throughout the essay. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, moving smoothly from introduction to causes, solutions, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Although this trend', 'Consequently', and 'In addition' are used effectively to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the causes and solutions into distinct, well-managed body paragraphs. Referencing is generally clear, though minor improvements in lexical cohesion could make the transitions even more seamless. Overall, your organizational skills firmly place this response in the Band 7.0 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary that allows for some flexibility and precision. Phrases such as 'healthcare professionals', 'considerable amount of money', 'mitigate this concern', and 'coordinated action' show an ability to use less common items with an awareness of style and collocation. However, there are some minor lexical inaccuracies and slightly awkward phrasings, such as 'taking enough sleep' instead of 'getting enough sleep', 'a multiple vitamin supplements' (grammatical slip as well), and 'nutritional foods' instead of 'nutritious foods'. Despite these occasional errors, the vocabulary is adequate to convey your message clearly, fitting the Band 6.5 or 7.0 descriptors. We will award a solid Band 6.5 for these minor lexical slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or concessive clauses such as 'Although this trend can be attributed mainly to...' and 'Since individuals tend to work multiple jobs...'. There are numerous error-free sentences, and your control of punctuation and grammar is generally strong. However, a few errors persist that prevent a higher band. For instance, you wrote 'taking enough sleep' (collocation and phrasing) and 'consumers are being influenced by vitamins-related advertisements' (unnecessary plural 'vitamins-related'). Additionally, 'a multiple vitamin supplements' contains a determiner error. These are non-systematic errors that do not impede communication, placing your grammatical performance comfortably at a Band 7.0.
