Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining why people spend money on vitamin pills and suggesting ways to persuade them to improve their diet. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as work pressure, fatigue, government seminars, and social media campaigns. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the explanation of why people want fast results and how social media works. Examples are provided, such as a survey statistic and general references to social media usage, which support the arguments adequately. Overall, the task is successfully fulfilled, aligning with a Band 6.0 descriptor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each part of the prompt, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'On the other side'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt or awkward, such as starting the conclusion with 'Conclusion, although...'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the text, but the internal flow of sentences can be disjointed. This level of organisation and cohesion corresponds to a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate to the task, including words like 'individuals', 'seminars', and 'significant'. However, there are numerous word choice and word formation errors throughout the text, such as 'physician gave advice', 'take healthy diet', 'spent large amount of money' (instead of a large amount), 'vitamins pills', and 'knowlege'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with noticeable inaccuracy, and spelling errors like 'nowadys', 'enery', 'heplful', and 'adpot' occur. Because the vocabulary is adequate for the task but contains frequent errors that occasionally strain the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional or multi-clause structures ('While, the adverse impact of taking more quantity...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding verb forms, article usage, preposition selection, and sentence fragments. Examples include 'most of physician gave advice to take vitamins as a form of take healthy diet', 'their body feel too tiredness and weakness', and sentences that lack main verbs or subjects. These errors frequently impede smooth reading, though meaning can generally be discerned. This performance fits the Band 5.0 descriptors.
