Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been observed among individuals to rely solely on consuming vitamin pills by spending a large amount of money even though they are advised by doctors to follow a healthy diet instead. This essay will explore its main causes and propose practical solutions.
To begin with, one of the primary causes of this trend is its efficiency. While preparing a meal full of vitamins and nutrients require a significant amount of time, it is extremely efficient among users to take a pill instead which saves their time significantly. Another contributing factor is product's accessibility. This is primarily because people can purchase these pills at almost every grocery and medical stores nearby. Additionally, such products are advertised largely through television and posters in public places to attract consumers effortlessly. As a consequence, people end up relying on these readily available medicines instead of following doctors' advise.
Nevertheless, this problem can be addressed through several effictive measures. Governments should conduct public awareness campaigns to educate people the significance of a healthy diet to stay fit and to live a healthy life. Additionally, the officials should implement limits on companies to advertise their products and promote healthy alterative meals instead. Moreover, individual should research on potential side effects of consuming vitamin pills and consult a professional physician before consuming them blindly. This is because it can have negative health consequences.
To conclude, although people's habit of taking vitamins pills arises from several interconnected factors, it can effectively tackled through coordinated efforts from governments and individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task, examining both the reasons why people spend money on vitamin pills and proposing practical ways to persuade them to improve their diet instead. The student presents a clear position throughout the essay. The causes—such as time efficiency and accessibility—are clearly stated and supported with reasons. The solutions are similarly well-developed, mentioning government awareness campaigns, advertising limitations, and personal research. While some points could be expanded with more specific examples, the ideas are sufficiently extended and fulfill the requirements of the prompt well. The response demonstrates a clear understanding of the task, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Information and ideas are arranged coherently, with appropriate use of transitional phrases such as 'To begin with,' 'Nevertheless,' and 'To conclude.' Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt. However, there are minor cohesion issues and occasional unnatural referencing, such as 'While preparing a meal full of vitamins and nutrients require' where subject-verb agreement breaks down, and minor mechanical usage of cohesive devices. Overall, the flow of the essay is well-maintained and ideas are logically sequenced, guiding the reader smoothly from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'efficiency,' 'accessibility,' and 'coordinated efforts.' There are some vocabulary and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'medical stores' instead of 'pharmacies,' and minor spelling or form slips like 'effictive' instead of 'effective' and 'alterative' instead of 'alternative.' However, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly, and communication is never impeded by lexical errors. The student demonstrates an awareness of stylistic appropriateness suitable for an essay format, though a slightly wider variety of precise phrasing would be required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as 'While preparing a meal... it is extremely efficient...' and 'Despite this advice, some people continue to...' However, there are several grammatical errors and slips throughout the text. For instance, 'require' instead of 'requires' in 'While preparing a meal... require a significant amount of time,' 'advise' instead of 'advice' in 'doctors' advise,' and 'individual should research' instead of 'individuals should research.' Additionally, there is a missing article in 'educate people the significance.' While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication, and the sentence structures attempted show a reasonable level of grammatical control.
