Student answer (Band 7.0)
In this modern era, maintaining good health has now become a topic of considerable debate. Doctors say that by eating a nutritious diet, an individual can obtain sufficient vitamins. However, some folks continue to spend a considerable amount of money on vitamin tablets. This essay will discuss the compelling reasons and possible solutions to persuade people to obtain vitamins from natural sources.
To begin with, there are several reasons why individuals spend a huge amount of money on vitamin pills. Firstly, they have a packed schedule and struggle to prepare nutritious meals. So, many people find it convenient to get sufficient vitamins through pills. For example, a working person spends long hours in the office, finds it difficult to cook nutritious meals, relies on fast food, and takes multivitamin pills to compensate for their poor diet. Secondly, companies and social media influence individuals' perceptions of healthy eating and advertise their vitamin pills to fulfill the body's requirements for overall well-being. Thus, the busy lifestyles and promotion on every platform offer the individual a reason to rely on pills.
However, there are numerous solutions to encourage people to take vitamins from natural sources. Firstly, the government should promote balanced eating through campaigns and social media. Schools ought to teach ways to prepare healthy meals at an early age. Secondly, the government must offer the healthiest food at affordable prices. For instance, the stores ought to offer the best discounts on fresh food to motivate folks to buy fresh options. Hence, public education and affordable prices can attract consumers' attention to organic food rather than pills.
To recapitulate, people spend more money on vitamin pills because of their faster availability and heavy promotion. However, the government and healthcare professionals should encourage public education and the lowest possible prices for organic meals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response fully addresses all parts of the task. The candidate clearly outlines both reasons why people spend large sums of money on vitamin pills—namely busy lifestyles and targeted marketing—and provides practical solutions on how people might be persuaded to improve their diets, such as government campaigns and lowering the prices of fresh food. Ideas are well-developed and supported with relevant examples, such as a working person relying on fast food and multivitamins due to lack of time. The position is clear throughout the essay, and the arguments flow logically from the introduction to the conclusion, meeting all requirements of the task response criterion effectively. Therefore, it comfortably satisfies the descriptors for a band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, starting with an introduction, moving to the causes, then the solutions, and finishing with a concise conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, with transition markers such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However' guiding the reader smoothly through the arguments. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, ensuring the text is structured clearly. Although some of the cohesive links are slightly formulaic, the overall progression is logical and easy to follow. This earns a solid band 7.0 for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow flexibility and precision, using phrases such as 'considerable debate', 'nutritious diet', 'packed schedule', and 'overall well-being'. There is an attempt to use less common items with general awareness of style and collocation, such as 'compensate for their poor diet' and 'organic food'. While the vocabulary is generally appropriate and communicative, it occasionally dips into somewhat standard or repetitive phrasing ('some folks', 'huge amount of money'). Spelling and word choices are mostly accurate, rarely impeding the flow of reading. This performance aligns well with the band 7.0 lexical resource descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay contains a good variety of complex structures alongside simple sentences, showing general control over grammar and punctuation. Examples of successful complex structures include 'Doctors say that by eating a nutritious diet, an individual can obtain sufficient vitamins' and 'companies and social media influence individuals' perceptions of healthy eating'. There are frequent error-free sentences, though a few minor awkward expressions persist, such as 'faster availability' instead of 'convenience' or 'quick access'. Punctuation is handled correctly, and grammar errors do not impede communication at any point. The writing demonstrates solid control fitting a band 7.0 score.
