Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some doctors recommend that we can easily complete the vitamins deficiency by having a balanced diet, whereas some people always ended with spending huge on vitamins pill. I believe, despite the doctor’s advice, some people tend to spend on vitamins pill because of easy access and for those who are vegetarians. Having a proper knowledge of nutrition could persuade them to improve their diet.

There is no doubt that some people spend a lot of money on vitamins products due to their availability on supermarket and most of vitamins do not need a prescription to buy it. Many of vitamins can only take from non-vegetarian sources. As a result, it can be difficult for those people who do not eat meat. For example, vitamin B12 can easily find in non-vegetarian diet such as sea food, chicken and so on. Therefore, In order to complete the deficiency of vitamin B12 doctors always recommend to eat non vegetarian. However, many people strictly follow a vegetarian diet and they always prefer to buy Vitamin B12 tablets.

Improving a diet is must essential for everyone. In order to encourage people to follow their nutritional diet, they must have a basic knowledge about vitamins and minerals. Government should focus on awareness campaigns on nutrition diet rather than promoting pharmaceuticals products. Because these tablets have some negative impacts on health for long run for example kidney stones or improper digestion. if Many advertisements companies should focus more on natural products that come from nature. Consequently, people should aware from the value of a proper balance diet and can improve their deficiencies by eating natural products.

Although, vitamin pills are easy available in the market, eating a balanced diet is more beneficial. I believe that awareness campaigns about nutrition can reduce the dependence on vitamin tablets.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why people spend money on vitamin pills, such as easy access and dietary restrictions like vegetarianism, and suggests education and awareness campaigns to encourage dietary improvements. The writer's position is clear throughout. Ideas are generally relevant and extended, such as the example of vitamin B12 in non-vegetarian sources, though some parts border on over-generalization and could be further developed with deeper analysis. Overall, the task is adequately fulfilled and meets the criteria for Band 6.5, rounded to Band 6.0 as some ideas remain slightly under-developed or repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure. There is a logical progression from discussing the causes of vitamin pill consumption to exploring persuasive solutions. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, with transitional errors such as 'Therefore, In order to complete...' and awkward referencing. Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes inaccurately or repetitively. Paragraphing is utilised to separate main ideas, but internal paragraph flow could be enhanced through more sophisticated linking words. Overall, this performance aligns closely with the Band 6 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'balanced diet', 'nutritional diet', 'pharmaceuticals products', and 'deficiency'. However, there are noticeable word-choice errors, such as 'always ended with spending huge on vitamins pill' instead of 'end up spending heavily on vitamin pills', and 'availability on supermarket' instead of 'availability in supermarkets'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but inaccuracies in word formation and collocation persist. Spelling is generally accurate, but lexical control is inconsistent, placing the response firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at variety with structures like 'Although, vitamin pills are easy available...' and 'In order to encourage people...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'vitamins deficiency', 'easy available' instead of 'easily available', and 'people should aware from the value'. Furthermore, punctuation errors and missing articles (e.g., 'Government should focus') are present. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they occur regularly enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band, making Band 5.5 an accurate reflection of grammatical control.
