Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring why people spend money on vitamin pills due to busy lifestyles and suggesting homemade weekly meal preparation as a solution. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While the writer attempts to explain the causes behind pill consumption and how to encourage better diets, the explanations lack depth and specific examples from personal knowledge or experience, which is required for a complete band 7 development. The position is clear throughout, but the reasoning remains basic, with general statements such as people eating 'unhealthy oily food' rather than fully expanded arguments. Therefore, the task achievement aligns best with band 6, as all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, but some are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is arranged into four paragraphs, attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which shows basic paragraphing structure. However, logical progression is frequently disrupted by mechanical and faulty cohesion. For example, sentences often start abruptly, such as 'first of all. there are numerous ways...' with capitalization and punctuation errors that hinder the flow. Transitional markers are sometimes used inappropriately or redundantly, such as starting consecutive sentences with 'due to' or 'also'. Referencing is not always clear, and the overall coherence suffers from a lack of smooth transitions between ideas. Consequently, the organization reflects band 5, where there is some structure, but cohesive devices are inadequate and repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors and awkward collocations. Examples include 'balancing diet plays crucial role', 'taking a medicines of vitamins', 'heactic scheule', and 'positive affect'. While the writer attempts less common phrases like 'hectic schedule' or 'daily lifestyle', these are marred by spelling and grammatical collocation errors ('heactic', 'pre made food'). The range is minimally adequate for the task, meaning the writer can communicate basic concepts, but the frequent lexical inaccuracies and poor word forms pull the score down to band 5, as they occasionally cause difficulty or hesitation for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, containing persistent errors in articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. Examples of errors include 'humans life', 'taking a medicines of vitamins', 'dont have an enough time', and sentences beginning with lowercase letters following periods. Punctuation is particularly weak, with erratic capitalisation and spaced periods. Because the majority of sentences contain errors and there is a lack of control over complex forms, the grammar aligns with band 4, as errors are frequent and occasionally strain the reader's understanding.
