Student answer (Band 5.0)

A Healthy diet routine is very essential to meet all the requirements of a human body. Intake of the vitamin pills has been seen very often these days, rasing question about money expeniture on these pills and how essential is to provide information about using alternatives of the vitamin pills. There are several reasons for spending money on vitamin pill one of them is hactic schedule, while providing correct information about healthy diet can play an important role in addressing this issue.

Basically, consuming pill has become a part of the daily routine for most of the people, nevertheless some people still continue with the old pattern of healthy diet. This is largely because of the busy schedule of work, commuting and party time. Whereas following a healthy diet is not considered as part of this routine. When an individual has reached to a certain age and their body requires some attention, they assume spending on the vitamin pills is a smarter option than improving their diet. Another factor is that due to an individual's beliefs on a religion which are limited to a certain diet are sometimes naturally forced to consume pills. For example, a vegan person avoid eating any animal derieved products such as dairy, eggs and meat. As a result, a person is limited to the choice to provide such vitamins to their body which are available through these products ending up taking vitamin pills.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing why people spend money on vitamin pills, such as hectic schedules and dietary restrictions like veganism. However, the second part of the prompt regarding how people could be persuaded to improve their diet is only superficially touched upon in the introduction and lacks development or clear support in the body paragraphs. Furthermore, the response is under-length, containing only 238 words, which falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This negatively impacts the overall task response and prevents the candidate from fully exploring their ideas. Consequently, the task achievement is limited by incomplete development of the second prompt question and the failure to meet the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some general organisation with a clear introduction and body paragraph structure, but overall progression is hindered by abrupt transitions and underdeveloped thoughts. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or misused, as seen in phrases like 'Whereas following a healthy diet is not considered' or 'as a result, a person is limited to the choice'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical link between sentences is occasionally unclear, making the flow somewhat disjointed. Referencing within paragraphs can also be erratic, leading to a choppy reading experience. Overall, cohesion requires better management to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but range is limited and repetition occurs, such as with 'diet', 'pills', and 'schedule'. There are notable word choice and collocation errors, including 'hactic schedule' (hectic schedule), 'money expeniture' (money expenditure), and 'animal derieved products' (animal-derived products). Spelling slips like 'rasing' (raising) and 'hactic' also detract from the quality. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic points about lifestyle and veganism, it lacks the precision and flexibility characteristic of higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in clause structure and preposition usage, such as 'how essential is to provide information' and 'when an individual has reached to a certain age' (unnecessary preposition). Subject-verb agreement and article usage also show occasional lapses, for instance, 'a vegan person avoid eating' (avoids eating). Punctuation is generally functional, but structural errors occasionally cause the reader some difficulty in parsing complex thoughts. A wider range of error-free complex sentences is needed.
