IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Doctors tell us that we can get all the vitamins we need from having a healthy diet. Despite this advice, some people continue to spend large sums of money on vitamin pills.
Why do you think some people spend a lot of money on vitamin pills?
How could people be persuaded to improve their diet instead of buying vitamin pills?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, Highest number of people are consuming vitamin pills rather than eating healthy meals everyday. There could be lots of reasons and solutions associated with this trend which I will discuss with my explaination in the coming paragraphs.
To begin with, One of the main significant factor is that most of the population are taking vegeterian meals which does not give them enough vitamins and nutrients to their body. As a result, they are suffering from different health problems and they must have to take vitamin pills as nutritional needs. For example, according to the research conducted by the government in the year 2025, they found that, approximately 80% of the vegan population are highly dependable on the medicine for their healthy body.
Moreover, there could be lots of measures thet needs to implement to tackle this problem. The major one is that the government need to promote healthy diet habits in the communities by arranging some seminars and putting posters everywhere. Due to that, everyone can take an advice for their healthy diet to improve their overall health. For instance, the regional director in my town, he has implemented some resources for the healthy dietary modifications and prepared some guidelines of all age groups.
To conculde, the vegeterians are taking the multivitamis for their daily needs. Whereas, the authorities can bring the awareness amongst the people to improve their diet instead of relying on the pills. It is really important for everyone to keep and maintain the healthy body.

Referencing is sometimes unclear, for instance, using 'they' ambiguously in sentences like 'according to the research conducted by the government in the year 2025, they found that'. Overall arrangement shows an attempt at coherence, but the flow and mechanical nature of linking phrases place it firmly at a Band 5.5 to 6.0 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common lexical items such as 'nutritional needs', 'dietary modifications', and 'multivitamins'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Highest number of people' instead of 'The vast majority of people', 'vegeterian meals', and 'dependable on' instead of 'dependent on'. Furthermore, spelling errors such as 'explaination', 'vegeterian', 'thet', 'conculde', and 'multivitamis' detract from the overall quality.
