Student answer (Band 6.0)
Despite confirmation of recent studies on availability of essential vitamins in healthy diet, a huge strata of individuals still rely on consuming vitamin pills. This practise is not only costly, but also leads to overdosage. There are several reasons that people are using these pills and spending a large amount on them. With effective planning and executions this upsurge in the use of pills could be halted.
To begin with the causes of it's consumption, the main culprits are the marketing agencies who are also manufacturing these pills. Through various campaigns they are compeling people to use their products regardless of how much expensive they are. On many social media platforms, there are thousands of such agencies that are running a web of campaigns to sell their product and to promote it's consumption. Additionaly, the lack of awareness from user end is also contributing in this process. Many people either are not aware about what exactly healthy diet is or assume that it is usually boring when it comes to the taste of it. However, this is not the case.
The first and foremost step that should be taken to halt the consumption of these pills is to regulate both state and social media. Both at state and at personal level, strategies should be adopted to hamper the promotion of such pills. One way of doing this is that state should issues license for generating mainstream content. Any content or add in this case, should be penalized that promote such ideas. Secondly, there should be a bottom up approach to increase the awareness of healthy diets. In schools, hospitals and even on TV serials state should run campaigns on benefits of such diets. Also, how it could be made at home with a limited budget and with a lasting taste.
In a nutshell, consumption of pills is an act that is promotiong due to both media advertisements and lack of awareness. However, with dedication and proper planning it could be halted and inclination towards healthy food could be increased.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response fully addresses all parts of the task. For the first question regarding why people spend large sums on vitamin pills, the writer identifies aggressive marketing by manufacturing agencies and a lack of awareness or misconceptions about a healthy diet. For the second question regarding how people could be persuaded, the writer proposes state and social media regulation of advertisements alongside a bottom-up approach to public awareness through schools, hospitals, and media. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are well-developed and supported with relevant explanations and examples, aligning well with the Band 7 criteria.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is logically organised with a clear overall progression. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: introduction, reasons for consumption, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used adequately, such as 'To begin with', 'The first and foremost step', and 'In a nutshell'. However, there are some minor mechanical errors in cohesion and referencing, such as the incorrect use of apostrophes in 'it's consumption' and 'promote it's consumption'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but overall cohesion is occasionally slightly mechanical, placing this firmly at Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision, employing terms such as 'strata', 'upsurge', 'main culprits', and 'bottom up approach'. Less common lexical items are attempted with some awareness of style, though there are several noticeable word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'compeling' instead of 'compelling', 'expensive' instead of 'expensiveness', 'Additionaly', 'add' instead of 'ad', and 'promotiong' instead of 'promoting'. Despite these errors, communication is never impeded, which fits the Band 6 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as concessive clauses ('Despite confirmation...') and conditional ideas. However, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, including missing articles ('a healthy diet', 'the state should issue'), subject-verb agreement issues ('state should issues'), and misuse of pronouns ('it's' instead of 'its'). These errors persist but do not impede communication, making Band 6 an appropriate reflection of the writer's grammatical control.
