Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why people spend money on vitamin pills and suggesting ways to improve diets instead. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. The discussion on convenience is reasonably clear with details about searching online and busy schedules. On the other hand, the points regarding solutions are somewhat under-developed, such as the vague suggestion that 'The Government play cruical role' and the brief mention of lowering the prices of nutritious foods like fish. The position is generally clear throughout, but the depth of support varies across the body paragraphs, keeping the development at a moderate level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression is sometimes hindered by faulty or mechanical cohesive devices. For instance, transitional phrases like 'First and foremost reason', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'Thia results to higher sales to all supplements'. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow between sentences within paragraphs occasionally stumbles due to abrupt shifts in ideas, such as moving directly from medical tests to food pricing without a smooth transitional link.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, though it shows a limited and basic range with noticeable errors. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'sedentary lifestyle' and 'nutritious vaues', but these are accompanied by frequent spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally detract from the reading experience. Examples of spelling and lexical slips include 'Undoubtly', 'prospective' instead of perspective, 'viatmin', 'containg', 'perfer', 'yough', 'Thia', 'cruical', 'organse', 'meidical', 'dificency', and 'vaues'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they reflect a restricted lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'vitamin supplement are', article omissions such as 'in sedentary lifestyle everyone have packed schedule', and incorrect prepositions or prepositional patterns like 'help people by guiding them at big platform'. Punctuation is also flawed, evidenced by spaces before commas in phrases like 'Undoubtly ,'. While meaning is generally conveyed, these frequent errors require the reader to occasionally puzzle over the intended structure.
