Student answer (Band 6.0)
A highly controversial topic being discussed these days that despite doctors opinions regarding multivitamin pills people are still spending a lot of money on buying tablets. Doctors have told us that we can get essential nutrients from organic sources, vegan and meat. But some people are still wasting money on purchasing pills and loading their stomach with multivitamins.
I believe that anxious people, gym freaks and older people with minor arthritic changes are more prone to buy vitamin pills. The main reason of their interest in taking vitamins in oral tablet form is either they would be picky eater or they are calories conscious. People with special diet plans, calorie control and on protein diet often feel weakness because of low carbohydrate intake. Carbohydrates are sudden source of energy, they maintain the blood glucose level for half hour to two hours. For example, my auntie is in australia living far away from family, she had nobody to cook food for her and lactose intolerant, so that she always buy multivitamins as an alternate of milk for maintaining calcium levels.
People can force themselves to improve their diet by changing the recipes, shifting to healthy diet plans, meal preps in advance and dry fruits as a part of their daily life. They can add some taste to their plain recipes, like bone broath can be exciting if we add spice and salt in it. For instance, bone broath is a good source of collagen, calcium and other vitamins. Milk and yogurt are rich source of calcium.
Overall, I would like to explain that both of questions have been addressed above. Both points of view are of equal value and benefits. I believe that buying pills can help older people but younger should rely on food sources of vitamins.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing why people spend money on vitamin pills and suggesting how they can improve their diet instead. A clear position is presented throughout the essay. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on why certain groups like gym goers or older people take supplements is somewhat brief and relies on a single personal example about an aunt in Australia. To move to a higher band, the ideas would need more thorough extension and support, moving beyond limited personal anecdotes to more generalised explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing the prompt questions, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate different points, such as the reasons for taking pills versus methods to improve diets. However, cohesion can feel a bit mechanical at times, and referencing or transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt, such as the sudden shift into the personal example. Information is logically sequenced overall, but greater control over cohesive devices and referencing is needed for a smoother flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
An adequate range of vocabulary is used for the task, successfully communicating the main ideas. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items and subject-related terms, such as 'multivitamin pills', 'organic sources', 'lactose intolerant', and 'collagen'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'calories conscious' instead of 'calorie-conscious', 'picky eater' instead of 'picky eaters', and spelling errors like 'broath' instead of 'broth'. These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect a typical profile of this level where precision is occasionally lacking.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional or participial clauses. There is a mixture of error-free sentences alongside some noticeable grammatical and punctuation errors. Examples include missing articles and prepositions or agreement issues, such as 'A highly controversial topic being discussed these days that...' which lacks a main verb, 'the main reason of their interest' instead of 'the main reason for', and 'both of questions'. These errors occur regularly across complex forms, but they rarely impede overall communication, keeping the essay firmly aligned with this level.
