Student answer (Band 6.0)

Today, I am going to elaborate a very important topic that arouses number of debates in our society concerning healthy diet and intaking vitamins. Although doctors recommend us having a healthy diet but despite of that many people continue to spend so much money on buying the vitamin pills. I will discuss the benefits of healthy diet as well as why people keep on buying those vitamins and also give my opinion in the end.

To begin with, healthy diet plays an important role in keeping our body healthy and keep it away from diseases by making our immune system strong. Moreover, some of the people who really want to live a healthy life go to gym and always follow proper diet in order to increase the muscles and keeping themselves physically fit. Futhermore, they also spend a lot of time preparing the meals that they are going to consume the whole day.

On the other hand, many of the people argue that preparing the healthy food consumes so much time and also it is very uneasy to create a proper diet in which they can get each and every required vitamin and minerals. So in order to get the required vitamins they buy vitamin pills and also sometimes they drink vitamin rich synthetic drinks.

In my opinion, in order to improve their healthy diet and get rid of bunch of pills they take everyday they should prepare their meals using artificial intelligence and prepare them all at once every week in order to save their time for everyday. Nowadays, their are a bunch of companies such as Factor, Hello Fresh etc. from where they can get proper nutrition rich food. I know it can be expensive but instead of wasting money on pills they can add it to their meals.

In conclusion, with rising social influence peole are consuming the things that are not recommended by the doctors and some of them are not even proved to be useful. So, in order to stay away from these scams a person shouls follow a healthy diet and be physically and mentally fit.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, meeting the basic requirements by discussing why people buy vitamin pills and how they could be persuaded to improve their diet. However, some aspects of the prompt are treated unevenly. For instance, the explanation of why people spend money on pills relies on general statements about time consumption, such as 'preparing the healthy food consumes so much time', without deeper development. The second prompt question regarding persuasion is addressed through suggestions like meal-prep services such as 'Factor' and 'Hello Fresh', but the mechanism of how people are actively persuaded remains somewhat superficial. The student has a clear stance throughout the essay, but the ideas tend to be limited and require further extension to reach a fully developed standard.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Each paragraph has a clear central topic, such as the benefits of a healthy diet in the second paragraph and the counter-argument regarding time constraints in the third paragraph. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader, with transitional phrases like 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In my opinion' structuring the text. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise, and some cohesive links feel mechanical, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher band. The progression of ideas overall is clear, fulfilling the lower requirements comfortably while displaying some elements of secure organization.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate basic points about health, diet, and busy lifestyles. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'immune system', 'physically fit', and 'artificial intelligence', but these attempts are occasionally accompanied by awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'intaking vitamins' instead of 'taking vitamins' or 'uneasy' instead of 'inconvenient'. There are also minor spelling and word-form inaccuracies, such as 'peole' instead of 'people' and 'their are' instead of 'there are'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect a limited vocabulary range that restricts the score to this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly concerning prepositions, articles, and verb patterns, such as 'elaborate a very important topic' instead of 'elaborate on', 'recommend us having' instead of 'recommend having', and 'a bunch of pills they take everyday' missing relative pronouns or prepositions. Punctuation is generally acceptable, and while the errors occur regularly, they rarely impede communication. The control of grammar is adequate for everyday structures, but frequent slips in complex patterns prevent a higher rating.
