Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this modern era, everyone wants to become healthy and fit by taking a healthy diet, whereas others are taking vitamin pills to fulfill their vitamins. There are many reasons for this statement, not only busy schedules but also shortages of money. I am discuss the reasons and give the relevant examples in upcoming paragraphs.

Primarily, the biggest reason for this is the individuals have busy schedule, they donot have time to make a healthy diet on their home, so they fulfill their body needs like carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins from pills. For instance, the scientists found that almost all bodybuilders complete their vitamins and protein from the pills and take the steriod injection to make their body.

Moreover, the other main reason is money. pupils donot interested in spending too much on their health, owing to people spend a lot of money on shopping and eating outside food instead of spending on thier own body which is helping in their older age. for example, My grandfather is very curious for health, doing exercise on daily basis and spend alot of money on their health so that now he is more fit then my father.

In conclusion, people have taking more pills to complete their vitamins instead of eating healthy diet and healthy food prepared by their own due to their complex timetable and issue of money. If people want to live their happy and disease free life then they have to spend money on their diet and have to join heath session like gym or yoga classes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt by attempting to explain why people spend money on vitamin pills and suggesting how they could be persuaded to improve their diet, satisfying the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on why people buy pills touches on busy schedules and financial choices, but the supporting examples, such as bodybuilders taking steroid injections, are somewhat off-topic and fail to clearly explain the general public's reliance on vitamin supplements. Similarly, the second body paragraph introduces contradictory points, stating that people do not want to spend money on health while simultaneously mentioning that the writer's grandfather spends a lot of money on health. The position is not always clear, and the overall treatment of the prompt is partial.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation in the response, featuring a clear introduction and conclusion, along with basic paragraphing. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression of ideas. The transition between sentences and paragraphs can feel abrupt, and cohesive devices are sometimes repetitive or inaccurate, such as using 'Moreover, the other main reason is money' followed by examples that confuse the main argument. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in the pronoun usage in sentences like 'owing to people spend a lot of money on shopping'. While basic organisational markers are present, the overall logical flow is disrupted by limited paragraph internal cohesion and unclear argumentation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, with attempts at common general terms such as 'modern era', 'disease free life', and 'complex timetable'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'complete their vitamins' instead of 'get their vitamins', 'pupils' instead of 'people', and 'thier'. Spelling and morphological errors are frequent, including 'steriod', 'alot', and 'heath'. The lexical range is constrained, and the student relies heavily on repetitive phrasing throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few awkward attempts at complex sentence forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and verb form issues ('I am discuss', 'people have taking'), article omission ('on their home', 'issuse of money'), subject-verb agreement problems ('individuals have busy schedule'), and preposition errors. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and reveal a lack of control over basic grammatical patterns. Punctuation is also basic and occasionally misused, restricting the writing to lower structural accuracy.
