Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt—explaining why people spend money on vitamin pills and how they might be persuaded to improve their diets—however, the ideas are limited and under-developed, keeping the score at this level. While the student mentions convenience, busy lifestyles, and marketing as reasons for buying supplements, these points lack adequate extension or specific examples. Similarly, the suggestions for persuasion, such as school programs and influencer campaigns, remain quite general. Furthermore, an important deduction must be noted: the response contains 244 words, thereby failing to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words. This shortfall directly impacts the completeness of the task response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates some organisation with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, body points, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences is frequently disrupted. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or inaccurate manner, such as starting sentences with fragmented phrases like 'This is mainly because of easy for there convenient' or repetitive structures like 'One reasone why'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen with ambiguous pronouns ('They have chose easy way'). While the text is divided into paragraphs, the internal cohesion within these paragraphs remains inadequate, leading to a somewhat disjointed reading experience.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts to use less common items related to health and diet, but these are marred by frequent word-form, collocation, and spelling errors, such as 'pils' instead of pills, 'covenient' instead of convenience, and 'adverting' instead of advertising. Phrasing like 'health related promoted' and 'social activitst' demonstrates a lack of precision in word choice. Although the general topic is understandable, the frequent lexical inaccuracies restrict the vocabulary score and impede natural communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar is characterised by a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside frequent, faulty attempts at complex ones. There are constant errors in basic grammatical categories, including subject-verb agreement ('Many company and health fitness industry promoted'), missing articles ('in diet plan'), incorrect prepositions ('obtain for body minerals'), and awkward verb forms ('Docters often adviced'). Punctuation is also problematic, featuring sentence fragments and run-on structures. These frequent errors across basic and complex sentences cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of grammatical mechanics.
