Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often said that people can obtain all the essential vitamins and nutrienrts from balanced diet but still they opt for vitamins pills. In the following discussion, i will discuss the reasons for this behaviour and what steps should be taken to prevent unnecessary spending on pills and tablets.
First of all, the reason people opt for vitamins is that they are easily available and people just need a glass of water to consume them. Secondly, these vitamims and mineral tablets are advertized on large scale by the companies to incrase the volume of sales and in turn to generate more revenues.
On the other hand, a balanced food need time and effort to be prepared. In this busy life people do not get enough time to invest on food preparation, This need of time and effort to make healthy food make them fall for the short cut and they in turn go for consuming the vitamin pills and tablets. Moreover, the ingregients of organic and healthy food are also not cheap so thats also a major reason that people opt out of cooking healthy.
In order to make people realize the benefits of healthy eating, there should be proper campaigns and advertizing by the government and most importantly from the nutritionists. Also, governments should subsidize the healthy food and ingrdeints used to make it. They should subsidize fruits and vegetables rather than putting taxes on farmers. In this way people will shift towards healthy eating and the need for vitamin pills will reduce.
So to conclude, I will suggest that a joint effort is required to make people realize the importance of healthy eating rather than relying on vitamins and this can be done by the combined effort sof doctors, nutritionists and government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions and maintain a clear overall position: people choose pills for convenience, advertising, time pressures and the cost of healthy ingredients, while campaigns and subsidies could encourage better eating. These are relevant explanations and solutions. The response also includes some supporting detail, such as needing only “a glass of water” to take pills and subsidising “fruits and vegetables.” However, the ideas are not developed evenly. The reasons are listed more than explored, and the proposed campaigns are not explained in terms of how they would change people’s choices. The claim that healthy ingredients are expensive could also be supported with a specific example. This covers the task well overall, but fuller explanation and support would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, discussion of reasons, proposed measures and a conclusion. The progression from convenience and advertising to time and cost is easy to follow, and signposts such as “First of all,” “Moreover” and “So to conclude” help guide the reader. Paragraphing is appropriate. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, and the relationship between the ideas could be made more explicit. For example, “On the other hand” introduces further reasons rather than a contrasting point, so a phrase such as “Another reason” would be more accurate. The final paragraph repeats the call for joint effort without adding much. More varied, precise transitions and clearer links between claims and explanations would strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “balanced diet,” “generate more revenues,” “subsidize” and “nutritionists,” and the meaning is generally clear. There is some attempt to use topic-specific language, but word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and limit precision. Examples include “vitamins pills,” “advertized,” “incrase,” “ingregients” and “advertizing.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “a balanced food,” “invest on food preparation” and “opt out of cooking healthy.” Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling carefully. More accurate choices such as “vitamin supplements,” “prepare balanced meals” and “invest time in meal preparation” would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a purpose clause in “In order to make people realize…” and a conditional result in “In this way people will shift…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and errors rarely prevent understanding. Some grammatical problems remain, particularly with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries. For example, “from balanced diet” needs an article, while “a balanced food need time” has a singular subject with a plural verb and an unnatural noun construction. The sentence beginning “In this busy life” runs into a comma splice before “This need…”. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation choices. Review article use and subject–verb agreement, and separate or join clauses with appropriate punctuation.
