Student answer (Band 6.0)

Although medical doctors has informed us that we can get all the necessary vitamins we need from having to eat a healthy diet. Notwithstanding, some people continue to spend huge amount of money on supplement pills. This essay will discuss both questions and provide relvant examples.

Firstly, one major reason why people spend money on supplements is because of busy lifestyles. This is because, individuals have job that requires a huge amount of time as such, barely have the time to prepare nutritious diet. For example, a busy office worker may skip breakfast and eat fast food regularly. As a consequence, may rely on vitamin supplements. Secondly, some people may lack knowledge about nutrition. To illustrate this, someone who does not know that fruits and vegetable have lots of nutrients may constantly depend on viatmin tablet instead. This demonstrate why some individual spend lots on money on vitamins.

However, there are several other ways people can be encouraged to improve their diet. Public health campaigne is very essential. The reason is because government can run campaigns that a balanced diet should be the primarily source of nutrient for most people. For instance, social media and campaigns should encourage individuals ro eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other nutritious foods. As a result, the public will eventually be aware of other natural options to source a wholesome meal. Unless this is considered, people who lack the basic information regarding this development may continue to budget huge amount of money on vitamin pills. This shows why it is important to educate the masses through TV and other social platforms that can be very helpful.

In conclusion, due to the busy work life of some individuals, it can be a major reason why they spend a lot of money on nutritional supplement. Whereas, through the use of social media, healthy meals such as fruits and vegetables could he encouraged to eat frequently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both questions and gives relevant reasons: busy lifestyles and limited nutrition knowledge are offered as explanations for buying supplements, while public campaigns are proposed as a way to encourage healthier eating. The examples of an office worker skipping breakfast and people learning about fruit and vegetables help make the points concrete. However, the second question is developed less fully: the campaign idea is repeated through references to social media, television and educating the public, without explaining clearly how these measures would change people’s choices. The conclusion also focuses mainly on busy work life and social media, leaving the point about nutrition knowledge less clearly summarised. More explanation of how each proposed measure would work would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two questions, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “However” make the progression easy to follow, and examples generally appear beside the ideas they support. This meets the lower-band expectation for coherent organisation and shows some movement towards more flexible cohesion. At times, though, linking is mechanical or the relationship between sentences is unclear. For example, “As a consequence, may rely on vitamin supplements” has no stated subject, and the campaign paragraph repeats the idea of public education in several forms. Use clearer references and develop each point before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

There is an adequate range for the topic, including terms such as “nutritious diet,” “balanced diet,” “nutrients,” and “nutritional supplement.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the writer attempts more formal expressions such as “source a wholesome meal.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “vitamin pills” alongside “supplement pills,” “budget huge amount of money,” and “the primarily source.” Spelling errors such as “relvant,” “viatmin,” and “campaigne” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent understanding, but more precise, natural phrasing would strengthen the response. Prefer familiar, accurate collocations over expressions that sound formal but are not used naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response attempts both simple and complex sentence forms, using clauses introduced by “because,” “that,” and “unless.” Some sentences communicate their meaning clearly, such as “For example, a busy office worker may skip breakfast and eat fast food regularly.” However, errors in agreement, sentence structure and articles occur in several places. The opening, “Although medical doctors has informed us…,” combines an incorrect verb form with an incomplete contrast structure, while “individuals have job” needs an article and “This demonstrate” needs subject–verb agreement. The fragment “As a consequence, may rely…” also lacks a subject. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, though the overall message remains understandable. Check each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review agreement and articles.
