Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been argued that an increasing number of people are spending a big chunk of money on buying vitamin pills from market although they can get the required amount of vitamins even if they follow a balanced diet at home. In my view, people are buying vitamins pills from the market is because of lack of time due to an busy lifestyle and by watching misleading advertisements on the social media. However, we can overcome this by providing health education to the people especially to the working class and by hosting awareness campaighns in the cities by the government.

One of the major reasons why people are inclined to spend large amount of money on vitamins pills is because of thier busy life style. There are many people who work two diferent jobs to run their families and fulfill the commitments due to which they remain busy in thier lives and therefore they cannot find time in their busy schdules to cook healthy food thought which they can get the vitamins. So it leaves them no other option but to rely on vitamin pills in the market and they go for it. For instance- I work long hours at two different jobs and I regularly eat fast food and rely on vitamin supplements to meet their nutritional needs.

Another important reason for this trend is that the people watch advertisement about the vitamins pills on the social media channels. The advertisement are so promising and convincing that people watch them and get influenced by it and they purchase the pills in the market. Therefore, advertisements mold the people's mind and people feel motivated to rely on those supplements.

However, this issue could be addressed by providing people with health education. Governments could run television programmes and create short videos demonstrating how to prepare healthy meals in very little time. This would show people that preparing nutritious food does not necessarily require a significant amount of time and could encourage them to improve their diets instead of relying on vitamin supplements. For example- a television programme could demonstrate how a busy employee can prepare a healthy and nutritious meal in just 15 minutes before going to work.

In conclusion, people are spending huge sums of their paycheque buying vitamin pills. This is primarily because of having a busy worklife and watching and getting influenced by the advertisements on social media. However, this issue can be addressed by provding health education by the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a clear position: lack of time and persuasive social-media advertising explain supplement purchases, while health education is your proposed response. The busy-lifestyle point is supported with an example, and the suggestion of short programmes showing quick meals is relevant and practical. This gives the response a solid, relevant foundation. However, the advertising explanation is less developed: you say adverts are “promising and convincing” and influence people, but do not explain what claims or techniques make them persuasive. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than adding a final implication. To strengthen the response further, develop each reason with a specific explanation or example and show more clearly how the proposed education would change people’s choices.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two causes, a paragraph proposing a solution, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “One of the major reasons,” “Another important reason,” and “However” help readers follow the argument. The solution paragraph is especially well connected: it explains the education proposal and then illustrates it with a quick-meal programme. Some connections are less smooth or repetitive, particularly “Therefore” followed by “and they purchase the pills,” and repeated references to people and vitamin pills. The first example also shifts from general discussion to “I” and then “their nutritional needs,” making the reference unclear. Use pronouns consistently and vary linking and reference patterns to make cohesion more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You communicate the main ideas using relevant vocabulary, including “balanced diet,” “nutritional needs,” “vitamin supplements,” and “health education.” There is also some useful topic-specific language, such as “misleading advertisements” and “nutritious meal.” However, the range and control are uneven, with repeated wording such as “busy,” “people,” and “vitamin pills,” and several inaccurate or awkward choices. Examples include “a big chunk of money,” “advertisement about the vitamins pills,” and “mold the people's mind”; these reduce precision and naturalness. Spelling errors such as “diferent,” “thier,” “schdules,” and “provding” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise collocations and proofread spelling; for example, use “spend a considerable amount” and “influence consumers’ decisions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses of reason and result: “because of their busy lifestyle” and “This would show people that preparing nutritious food does not necessarily require…” Several sentences communicate the intended meaning clearly, and the solution paragraph shows reasonable control of longer structures. Some grammatical errors remain, however. The introduction has a faulty construction in “people are buying vitamins pills … is because,” and “due to an busy lifestyle” has an article error. In the personal example, “I … rely on vitamin supplements to meet their nutritional needs” shifts pronouns, while “The advertisement are” has subject–verb disagreement. There are also awkward sentence boundaries and punctuation around “For instance-”. Review agreement, articles, and consistent pronoun reference, and edit long sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete.
