Student answer (Band 6.0)

Vitamins are the essential minerals or nutrients for healthy individual. They are the most determing factors responsible to live a good physical and mental life. Many diseases and syndromes are the outcome of deficiencies various Vitamins. Therefore, the maintainance of the required levels of Vitamins in body is necessary. Vitamins are naturally found in fruits, dry-fruits, vegetables and meats. However, they are also manufactured by pharmaceutical companies and are readily available in Pharmacies in the form of pills.

People spend a lot of cash when the required therapeutic ranges of Vitamins are not attained in daily intake of an individual, he must have to consult a physician in order to fulfil the needed amount of Vitamins in his/her body. These requirements could easily be met, if they consult a proper nutitionist or dietician who would develop a proper plan of their daily intake to cater all the possible deficiencies of nutirients and minerals in one's body.

Lack of knowledge especially in the basic curriculum is the most important factor contributing the increase in the expenses of supplements. If the children are taught about the differences between the Healthy and Unhealthy food and their possible outcomes, then the good food will become part of their life from the early stages. For instance, in our 5th standard, we learnt that Vitamin C could be obtained from Citrus fruits and therefore it became my habit to eat at least two oranges in a week which were sufficient for my body's requirement of Vitamin C.

Similarly, People could be convinced to take healthy eatables instead of junk food by allowing them to have at least two cheat days and then gradually decrease it to one day. Furthermore, endorsement of healthy activities from the Government level, like hitting the gym or Sports activities, will also impart a sense of health consciousness among the people.

It's the Government's obligation to ensure that necessary levels of Vitamins are met in the public. Therefore, policies ought to be made for publiic so that they are encouraged to participate in positive activies and have healty diet-conscious mind for the fortitfication of physical health which will ultimately lead to a sound mind as it goes with a saying that "A Sound Mind is in a Sound Body".

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both questions and maintains a relevant focus on nutrition. It offers possible reasons for supplement use, including unmet vitamin requirements and limited knowledge, then suggests nutrition advice, school education, gradual changes to eating habits, and government promotion of healthy activities. The personal example about learning that citrus fruits provide vitamin C helps illustrate the education point. However, the explanation of why people spend large sums is not fully developed: the opening claim about deficiencies does not explore other motivations, such as convenience, advertising, or beliefs that pills work faster. The suggestions are also unevenly explained; for example, the link between “cheat days” and choosing a healthier diet is unclear. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces vitamins, discusses reasons for buying supplements, and then presents ways to encourage healthier eating before concluding with a government recommendation. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Similarly,” and “Furthermore” help signal examples and additions. However, the progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes loose. The second paragraph moves from vitamin requirements to consulting a physician and then to a nutritionist without clearly distinguishing why people buy pills from how they could be persuaded to change their diet. The final paragraph also repeats the government-policy idea from the previous paragraph. Grouping reasons and solutions into clearly focused paragraphs, and using references that make each connection explicit, would make the organisation more effective.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “deficiencies,” “therapeutic ranges,” “nutrients,” “dietician,” and “fortification,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “health consciousness” and “physical health.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “most determing factors,” “healthy eatables,” and “fortification of physical health.” Spelling errors such as “maintainance,” “nutitionist,” “nutirients,” and “publiic” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations—for example, “essential nutrients,” “healthy foods,” and “promote physical health”—and proofread spelling carefully. This would make the vocabulary more fluent and appropriate to the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response attempts a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional sentences (“if they consult a proper nutritionist”) and a relative clause (“who would develop a proper plan”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “Vitamins are the essential minerals or nutrients for healthy individual” needs an article before “healthy individual,” while “he must have to consult” combines two incompatible forms. In “People spend a lot of cash when the required therapeutic ranges … are not attained …, he must…,” the sentence joins clauses without a clear grammatical connection and shifts from plural “people” to singular “he.” Practise separating long sentences and checking articles, agreement, and verb patterns. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
