Student answer (Band 6.0)

Most of the doctors encourage individuals to take balanced diet hence they can get all the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals required for the healthy functioning of the body and there is a no need to spend huge amounts of money on supplements as excessive consumption can cause intoxication in human body.

The reason behind people spending excessive money on vitamins pills these days is that they do not have enough time to eat healthy and balanced diet meals because they have busy and hectic life schedules. Therefore to keep themselves fit and to fulfill their dietary requirements they find it easier to spend on supplements. Moreover, taking a pill does not require a huge efforts as compared to cooking a balanced diet meals hence it saves their time and it is convenient for them to take a pill.

To stop this negative trend, the government should ban unnecessary vitamins and minerals in the market. The awareness should be created in the public about the sideeffects of these supplements when consumed in large quantities as there are some supplements which are marketed for profitability of the business not to benefit the health of the individuals. The individuals should only have access to these pills if they are prescribed by the doctor unless people should not have a free authorisation to these pills. Moreover, people should be encourage to eat healthy and organic foods.

In conclusion, it is a serious concern as over consumption of these pills cause organ damage and toxicity in the individuals hence people should only have acess to these pills when they are prescribed by the doctor so the efforts should be made to consume healthier food.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a clear view that convenience drives purchases and that public awareness and access controls could encourage healthier eating. The explanation that busy schedules make pills easier than preparing meals is relevant, and you give several possible measures, including education and doctor-led access. However, the reasons and solutions are not developed equally: the convenience point is repeated, while the proposed ban and prescription-only access are asserted without explaining how they would work or how they would lead people to improve their diets. The claim that supplements are marketed for profit also needs a clearer link to why consumers buy them. Develop each main idea with a specific explanation or example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an opening statement, a paragraph explaining why people buy supplements, a paragraph proposing measures, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “Therefore,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships, and the reader can follow the main line of argument. To make progression more effective, avoid repeating the convenience idea in the reasons paragraph and use the space to extend another cause or solution. Some links are mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “hence” and “Moreover.” The final sentence also joins several ideas in a way that makes their relationship less clear. Use more precise referencing and divide complex points into clearer steps.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “essential nutrients,” “dietary requirements,” “supplements,” “side effects,” and “organ damage.” These choices make the subject clear, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “vitamins pills,” “a huge efforts,” “free authorisation to these pills,” and “profitability of the business.” Spelling and word formation also need attention in “sideeffects” and “acess.” Aim for natural combinations and accurate forms, for example, “vitamin pills,” “considerable effort,” and “unrestricted access.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as,” and “unless,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some sentences are controlled, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “the government should ban” is followed by the awkward construction “The awareness should be created,” while “people should be encourage” needs a passive form with a past participle. In the opening, “there is a no need” contains an article error, and the long final sentence joins clauses without clear punctuation. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and break long sentences into shorter units where needed. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the response.
