Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people try so many ways to stay healthy. Therefore, Doctors advice us that we should eat healthy diet in order to complete all the vitamins that our body required. whereas, some individuals prefer to spend money on vitamin pills instead of healthy diet because it is easy and cheap for them. There are many ways to persuade people to give more importance towards diet rather than buying vitamin pills.

To begin with, due to busy lifestyle, people have busy schedules and do not have enough tome to prepare healthy balanced meals, so taking vitamin pills is quick and easy cpmpared with cooking nutritious food every day. Moreover, some people do not understand that many essential vitamins can be obtained from the fruits, vegetables and other natural foods because of lack of knowledge, and sometime people get stress out of counting calories and protein that how much they have in the whole day and how much they need.

On the other hand, the government could educate people about the benefits of eating fresh fruits, vegetables and balanced diet. For intance, they can make a compulsory subject in the school where teachers could teach children about nutrition and healthy eating habits from an early age. Furthermore, the government could provide cost-effective alternatives and can reduce the cost of foods, so that everyone can afford vitamins rich foods. In addition, Doctors and dietitians could explain when supplements are necessary and how they can meet the nutritional deficiencies.

In conclusion, based on the aforementioned reasons, the government can help to persuade the people to improve their diet, but people need to implement physical activities in their life instead of sedentary lifestyle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a relevant focus on why people choose supplements and how they might be encouraged to eat better. The reasons given—busy schedules, convenience, and limited nutritional knowledge—are pertinent, while school education, affordable healthy food, and advice from doctors offer practical responses. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the idea that people become stressed by counting calories and protein is not clearly connected to spending money on pills. The final point about physical activity also shifts away from the question and does not develop your answer. Explain more directly how each proposed measure could change people’s choices, and support one or two ideas with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining reasons, a paragraph proposing solutions, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In addition” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening moves from general health advice to the reasons for buying pills without a smooth link, and the calorie-counting point is not clearly tied to the paragraph’s main explanation. The conclusion introduces physical activity, which interrupts the progression from the solutions already discussed. Use linking phrases to show cause and effect more precisely, and make sure each paragraph develops one central line of thought before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “balanced meals,” “nutritional deficiencies,” “cost-effective alternatives,” and “sedentary lifestyle.” These expressions help communicate the topic, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “complete all the vitamins,” “give more importance towards diet,” and “vitamins rich foods.” There are also spelling errors, including “tome,” “cpmpared,” and “intance,” which reduce the accuracy of the writing. Aim for more natural combinations such as “obtain essential vitamins,” “prioritise a healthy diet,” and “foods rich in vitamins.” Proofreading for spelling and checking common collocations would make your vocabulary more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “so,” and “where,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some sentences are nevertheless affected by errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and punctuation. For example, “eat healthy diet” needs an article, and “the vitamins that our body required” has an inconsistent verb form and number. The opening also has a punctuation problem in “healthy. Therefore,” while “whereas” is incorrectly capitalised after a full stop. The long sentence about counting calories is difficult to follow because its clause structure is not controlled. Practise checking articles and subject–verb agreement, and divide long sentences when the relationship between ideas is unclear.
