Student answer (Band 5.0)

Vitamins are vital for human body. Some people argue that getting vitamine as a form of medicine is good for health whereas, other believe that it is important that vitamins should comes from the food we eat. I personally believe that your daily vitamins necessity should be fulfil by the food.

Firstly, to begin with many people spend alot on purchasing vitamin tablets to fulfil body needs. Since human body require many supplements people are avoding healthy diet and optioning for pills to fulfil their needs. For instance many people in developed country consume unhealthy food and have medicines to equal up the body needs in form of vitamin suggested by doctors. Moreover, people nowadays also believes that this kind of pills not only gives them vitamins but it also provides rare nutrients which is not present in our food.

Secondly, while other people believe that body requirements must be fulfilled by consuming healthy food. However not all types of food provides enough nutrients to live healthier life one single fruit provide variety of nutrient. For example a recent study by University of Toronto reveals that human who get variety of foods lives 2 year longer then a persn who choose not to and get their vitamins by pills. Furthermore, it is also important to note that by avoiding all this drugs one can save alot of money as this kind of supplements are generally cost alot.

To conclude, while vitamins in forms of medicine provides good amount of nutrients I completely belives that having a good lifestyles by consuming all genre of food is much important to live healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions: you suggest that people choose pills to meet perceived nutritional needs and because they believe supplements provide nutrients missing from food, then recommend a varied diet and mention saving money. However, the response only partially develops these points. The first paragraph does not clearly explain why people spend large sums, and the claim that pills provide “rare nutrients” is not explored. More importantly, the question asks how people could be persuaded to improve their diet, but the essay mainly states that healthy food is preferable rather than offering practical ways to persuade people, such as public education or clearer medical advice. Your position is present, though the opening comparison and final statement do not make it fully consistent or precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover” and “To conclude” help identify the stages of the response. However, progression within the paragraphs is not always clear. The second body paragraph begins with “while other people believe,” then shifts to the adequacy of food and later to saving money, without clearly connecting these ideas to how people could be persuaded. Some linking is mechanical or repetitive, particularly “Firstly, to begin with” and “Secondly, while.” Improve cohesion by giving each paragraph a clear purpose, using fewer formulaic transitions, and explaining how each example supports the main point. References such as “this kind of pills” also make connections between ideas less clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “vitamin tablets,” “healthy diet,” “nutrients” and “supplements,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. For example, “equal up the body needs” and “all genre of food” do not express the intended meaning naturally, while “vitamine” and “avoding” show spelling errors. Repetition of “vitamins,” “food” and “needs” also limits precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing nutrition and persuasion, and check spelling and word forms. More precise expressions would help distinguish perceived benefits of pills from the actual benefits of a balanced diet.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “Since” and a contrast introduced by “while.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “human body require,” “vitamins should comes,” and “one single fruit provide,” where subject–verb agreement or verb forms are incorrect. Articles and sentence construction also need attention, as in “for human body” and the opening sentence’s unclear contrast. Some sentences run several ideas together, reducing clarity. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct agreement, and complete clause structure; then review punctuation around introductory clauses and contrast markers.
