Student answer (Band 6.5)

Heath practitioners assert that from healthy diet we can get all the required vitamins. However, some individuals prefer to spend money on vitamin pills. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this occurrence and suggest some possible solutions to persuade people to improve diet instead of spending on pills.

To commence with, there are plethora of reasons behind this trend. One of the main reasons is hectic schedule. Nowadays, people have very tight schedule. They do not have time to cook healthy food. Consequentely, they believe pills are the easy way to complete the requirement of vitamins. For instance, it is often seen that many working employee carry vitamin pills inside their bags. Furthermore, advertisements and social media influence the people to buy pills by claiming that they boost energy, improve skin texture and help in strengthen the hairs. Moreover, some folks buy vitamins because they are worried about nutrition deficiencies.

There are numerous steps to mitigate this issue. Firstly, seminars should be organized by government in every urban and rural area to explain the importance of healthy diet. To add to it, docotors should also prescribe healthy food and fruits instead of pills to balance the vitamins in the body. Additionally, People should go for a regular blood work to avoid vitamin pills. For instance, few years back, i did not bother about blood work but whenever i had, the amount of vitamins was below than average and as per doctor if person's vitamin level is less than average then he has to take pills to complete the proportion. So, in order to avoid pills, people should go for a regular health check-up as small deficiencies could be adjusted by healthy diet.

In conclusion, although people like to spend on vitamin suppliments as it is a quick way to have vitamins, yet importance of healthy diet can not be neglected. It not only fulfil the vitamin requirements but also makes immunity stronger.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions and maintain a clear focus: the essay explains convenience, advertising and concern about deficiencies, then proposes education, doctors’ advice and health checks. The examples about working people carrying pills and your own blood test make the discussion relevant. This meets the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed. The point about hectic schedules is explained, while the claim that seminars should be held in every area is not supported with detail about how they would change behaviour. The blood-test example also needs a clearer link to choosing food over supplements, since your account says a doctor may recommend pills when levels are low. Develop that distinction and explain how each proposed measure would encourage dietary change.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. The sequence within each body paragraph is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Additionally” and “In conclusion” help readers recognise the stages of the argument. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Moreover” and “Additionally,” and the opening “To commence with” sounds formulaic. Connections between ideas could be made more explicit: the blood-work example, for instance, does not clearly show how regular checks would lead people to improve their diet rather than take pills. Use fewer stock transitions and build clearer cause-and-effect links between each claim and its support.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including “hectic schedule,” “nutrition deficiencies,” “mitigate this issue” and “vitamin requirements.” These choices help communicate the main points, and the meaning remains clear despite some inaccurate or unnatural expressions. For example, “complete the requirement of vitamins” and “help in strengthen the hairs” are not natural collocations, while “vitamin suppliments” contains a spelling error. “There are plethora of reasons” also needs an article. Aim for more precise, natural phrasing and check spelling and word forms carefully. Your vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic, but greater accuracy with collocations would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use both simple sentences and some more complex forms, including “although … yet” in the conclusion and the conditional structure “if a person’s vitamin level is less than average.” Most sentences communicate their meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include missing articles in “from healthy diet” and “there are plethora,” subject–verb agreement in “it not only fulfil,” and the construction “if person’s vitamin level.” The sentence beginning “For instance, few years back” also needs clearer tense and article control. Review articles, agreement and sentence construction, and proofread punctuation and capitalisation. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the range already attempted.
