Student answer (Band 7.0)
The blueprint delineates the comparison between the overview of city hospital road access, between 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the road access has undergone significant changes with the addition of roundabout, bus station, public and staff car park, while replacing bus stops. Another noticeable feature is city hospital remains stable at the position.
In 2007, City hospital was in the north side, surrounded by ring road, which has the direct access to the car parking for public and staff at south east corner. Besides that, there was 6 bus stops, separated by hospital road, 3 at the west and other next to the car park.
On contrary, in 2010, city hospital and ring road remains unchanged, while additional public car park added to the north east corner and common parking converted into staff car park. Whereas two roundabouts are added, one between city road and hospital road and other between hospital and ring road. Additionally, all the bus stops were replaced and one immense bus stop created at west side and get directly access and exit from both roundabouts.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the maps, including the addition of roundabouts and the reconfiguration of parking and bus facilities. You provided a clear overview and made relevant comparisons between 2007 and 2010. To reach a higher band, ensure that all details are accurate; for instance, you mentioned the hospital remained in the same position, which is correct, but your description of the road layout could be more precise. You covered all parts of the task well, though some descriptions of the locations (e.g., 'north side') could be more specific to help the reader visualize the changes more effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two time periods. You use cohesive devices such as 'On contrary', 'Whereas', and 'Additionally' to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or grammatically awkward, such as 'On contrary' (which should be 'On the contrary'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two years. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the other') is consistently clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'delineates', 'significant changes', and 'reconfigured'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'get directly access' (should be 'have direct access') and 'immense bus stop' (which is slightly unnatural in this context). While you successfully convey the necessary information, incorporating more precise vocabulary related to spatial descriptions and urban planning would enhance your score. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main points clearly without causing confusion for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'addition of roundabout' (missing an article), 'city hospital remains stable at the position' (awkward phrasing), and 'other next to the car park' (missing a subject). These errors are frequent but do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to article usage (a/the) and subject-verb agreement. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help you move into the higher band range.
