Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the maps, including the roundabouts, the bus station, and the changes to parking. You provide a clear overview and compare the two years effectively. However, the description of the parking changes is slightly confusing; you mention that staff parking remained in the same location while public parking was situated on the East side, but the visual data suggests the public parking moved to the East while staff parking was relocated to the West. Ensuring your interpretation of the visual data is precise is essential for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In 2007', 'By 2010', and 'In addition' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. For example, the transition between the description of the roundabouts and the parking in the final paragraph feels a bit abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'this area') is used more consistently would improve the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'junction', 'relocated', and 'construction'. However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'before and after refurnish' (should be 'refurbishment'), 'two round circle' (should be 'roundabouts'), and 'six bus stop in each side' (should be 'on each side'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your range of collocations related to map descriptions would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'several improvement have made' (should be 'improvements have been made'), 'parking were situate' (should be 'was situated'), and missing articles (e.g., 'at the West side'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely cause confusion for the reader. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential when describing changes in diagrams.
