Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the new roundabout and the expanded car park. However, the description is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision in reporting the specific changes to the road network. The overview is present but could be more clearly articulated. While the main trends are identified, the analysis lacks a professional tone and struggles to clearly distinguish between the two time periods due to imprecise language. To improve, focus on using more objective, descriptive language to report the visual data rather than conversational filler phrases like 'if i talk about'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The flow of ideas is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. For example, the transition between the description of the 2007 map and the 2010 map is abrupt. The use of linking words is limited and sometimes misused, which makes the progression of information feel mechanical rather than logical. Improving the use of transition signals (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Consequently') would significantly enhance the readability and logical flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'road reach' instead of 'road access', 'around about' instead of 'roundabout', and 'benifical' (spelling error). The student relies on basic, repetitive vocabulary and struggles with collocations. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to maps and urban planning, such as 'infrastructure', 'expansion', 'junction', and 'pedestrian access'. The current level of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning but lacks the precision required for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the two maps under illustrates'), tense usage ('the map show'), and sentence structure ('the road who access to a city road its increased well'). The writing relies heavily on simple sentences, and attempts at complex structures are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors in tense consistency.
