Student answer (Band 6.0)
We discus the maps of hospital.
The City Hospital how look like in 2007 and how in 2010.
Hear we start summarizing the first how look like in 2007 first we see in this year when we go east to west on city rood then we turn right for going to hospital when we turn right we see bus stops on our right and left and then we reached in hospital and we have car parking for staff and public combine.
In the second map (2010) we see some new things like new public car park and only car park only for staff car parking and two roundabout and it is very useful for safety.
One other thing is when we turn to hospital road we have bus station on our left and they connect with two roads one road when we enter on hospital road and second in when we comes out from hospital.
If we see the North side of hospital we see the ring road and its connect with public and staff car parking.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the changes in car parking and the addition of roundabouts. However, the description is somewhat informal and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. The reporting of information is occasionally unclear, such as the description of the bus station connections. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory overview of the main trends and use more precise language to describe spatial relationships. While the task is addressed, the lack of academic tone and the somewhat disjointed presentation of features limit the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often mechanical and lacks sophisticated cohesive devices. Phrases like 'Hear we start' and 'One other thing is' are informal and do not effectively link ideas in an academic manner. The referencing is sometimes confusing, particularly when describing the location of the bus stops and road connections. To improve, use a wider range of linking words and transition phrases to create a smoother flow between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'look like', 'see', and 'things'. There is a lack of precise vocabulary related to map description, such as 'intersect', 'adjacent', 'situated', or 'transformed'. Some word choices are awkward, such as 'combine' instead of 'combined' or 'shared'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and spatial description, and work on using words in their correct grammatical forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The City Hospital how look like'), incorrect verb tenses ('when we comes out'), and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting more complex constructions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that make the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common errors before finishing would also be highly beneficial.
