IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given maps illustrate the road access to a city hospital in the years 2007 and 2010. We can see some significant changes in both of the maps.
Overall, we can see some basic changes such as the location of bus stop has changed, the number of car parks has increased and the road junctions have been re-built as well.
The older map shows no round-about at all which is a specific requirement in modern traffic laws. While the updated map do has a round-about at every junction. In 2007, the bus stop was very far from the hospital which has been brought very next to the hospital in the modern structure which is very convenient for the staff and other people reaching hospital by bus.
Additionally, the older map shows a combined car park for both staff and public. To make the parking more flexible, the hospital's latest map has given with separate car parks for both staff and public.
