IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The two schemas illustrates how the road near the local hospital changed over the three year period from 2007 to 2010.

Overall, the hospital road experienced significant changes throughout the period. The separates bus stops were replaced by bus station, the one car park for both staff and visitors was separated into two different parkings, and two roundabouts were added.

In 2007, the way to the hospital lay from the crossroad in the south part of a map. The road lead to the north, away from six bus stops which were placed on both sides of it, and the car park for public and local workers was behind the eastern stops.

In 2010, the crossroad to the hospital was replaced by roundabout. Another one was built in front of hospital. The bus stops were removed and a bus station in front of previous car parking was created. As regards car park, the public car park was built to the east of a main building, and a staff car park occupied the whole territory of old park.
