Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response identifies the main features of the maps, such as the introduction of the bus station and the new car park. However, the description is somewhat superficial and lacks precision. For example, the mention of 'east south' is vague, and the description of the 'round chowk' is inaccurate based on the provided visual data, which shows a roundabout. The comparison between 2007 and 2010 is present but lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. To improve, ensure that all spatial references are accurate and that the key trends are highlighted more clearly in an introductory overview.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward, such as 'Having a first glance' and 'Moving further'. Some sentences are disjointed, and the logical flow between the description of the roads and the facilities is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which specific area of the map is being discussed. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words will help the ideas flow more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'changes', 'places', and 'road'. There are several instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'maping' instead of 'maps' and 'not in used' instead of 'not in use'. The phrase 'round chowk' is not standard academic English for a map description. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to urban planning and spatial description, such as 'constructed', 'relocated', 'converted', or 'adjacent', and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('in east south', 'at right hand side'), incorrect verb forms ('some new changes observed'), and awkward sentence structures ('the road access to the city hospital in last years'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions for location. Practicing the use of passive voice, which is essential for describing map changes, would also be highly beneficial.
