Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given pair of layouts represent the changes made in road access to city hospital in time period of 2007 and 2010.
Overall, it is crystal clear that many buildings were destroyed and new were established. However the city road and hospital road remained intact over the given period of time.
At the fleeting glance, it is evident that during the year of 2007 the staff and public car park were at same, by the year of 2010 both parkings were separated and public car park was constructed on the east of ring road and staff park remained at the same location.
Moving ahead, two roundabouts were constructed on both ends of hospital road. The bus stops in 2007 were destroyed and constructed on the west of hospital road with two entrances opening to both roundabouts. While there were no changes made to city road and hospital road in the given time period.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the maps, identifying key changes such as the relocation of the car park and the addition of roundabouts. However, the description of the bus stops is slightly inaccurate; the maps show the bus stops were moved from the hospital road to the city road, whereas you stated they were constructed on the west of the hospital road. Additionally, the overview is somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that all spatial details are described with greater precision and that the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just stating that buildings were destroyed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the changes. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'However', and 'Moving ahead' to guide the reader. However, the transition 'At the fleeting glance' is non-standard and slightly awkward. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing could be more precise to ensure the reader can easily track the changes between 2007 and 2010 without ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'intact', 'relocated', and 'constructed'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'At the fleeting glance' (should be 'At a glance') and 'staff and public car park were at same' (should be 'were in the same location'). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'new were established' (missing noun), 'during the year of 2007' (awkward phrasing), and 'both parkings were separated' (should be 'the car parks were separated'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on article usage and consistent subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
