The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given pair of maps depicts the information about road access to a city hospital in the years 2007 and 2010.

Overall, it is crystal clear that many buildings were destroyed and new ones were set up after construction; however, city hospitals remain similar over the period of time.

At the fleeting glance, the city hospital on the northeast side remained stable in the year 2010. In 2007, the hospital was accessed from the south via Hospital Road, which connected directly to City Road and another just south of the hospital building. Furthermore, the bus stops that previously lined both sides of Hospital Road were consolidated into a single bus station located to the west of the main road.

Moving further, parking and open spaces also change significantly. In 2007, a single car park on the eastern side of Hospital Road served both staff and the public. By 2010, this original car park was designated exclusively for hospital staff. To compensate, a new public car park was constructed on the eastern side of the hospital, which was previously an open area. Additionally, a new roundabout was added to the intersection of City Road while the ring road is in the southeastern corner.
