Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the new bus station, staff car park, and road junctions. However, the description is somewhat imprecise; for example, stating the 'ring road redeveloped with public car park' is vague, and the mention of 'two main road junction' lacks clarity regarding their location. While the main changes are identified, the comparison between 2007 and 2010 could be more analytical. The overview is present but lacks a clear summary of the most significant transformation, which is the shift from simple access to a more complex, multi-modal transport system. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the development of ideas is slightly superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Phrases like 'At the fleeting glance' and 'To began with' are used incorrectly, which hinders the natural progression of ideas. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are often misused or sound unnatural. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the new junctions and the city roads is confusingly expressed. The overall structure is coherent enough to follow, but the lack of sophisticated linking makes the writing feel disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of unnatural collocations and word-choice errors, such as 'in between 2007 and 2010' (redundant), 'untouched as given', and 'such type of disturbance'. The range is limited, and the student relies on basic descriptors. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of academic tone and the presence of repetitive phrasing prevent a higher score. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise terminology related to urban planning and map description, such as 'infrastructure', 'facilitate', or 'integrated'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('staff car park is been introduced'), incorrect verb tenses ('is constructed' instead of 'was constructed'), and awkward sentence construction ('As comparing in 2007 there was not any such type of bus station'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. While the errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures, keeping the score in the mid-range.
