The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The maps illustrates road access to a popular hospital called “The City Hospital” in 2007 and in 2010.

Overall, the road map to the city hospital has experienced an upgrade with new facilities added to it.

In 2007, the hospital had a ring road surrounding it. There was also a hospital road, lined with street lights that led directly to the hospital building in the central area. This road was joined by the city road. However, at the right of the street lights, there was a moderate car park that was used by both staff and public, to park their vehicles.

Furthermore, in 2010 the various roads experienced a massive upgrade. However, the city hospital is still surrounded by the ring road, but a public car park is situated at the eastern area of the hospital, while a roundabout was erected just at the central entrance of the hospital building, leading to a bus station at the left hand side, the hospital road still located at the center and the staff car park at the right hand side. It was observed that the street lights were taken down.
