Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

So we have two map which shows city hospital in two different year which are 2007 and 2010

we can see that after 2007 there was a construction which added a public car park and a staff car park attached to the hospital. They also added a bus station so more people can access the hospital and it is more affordable to travel. They also added roundabout so there is no to less traffic.

The Bus stop which was in 6 different place is now connected in to a bus station. It is connected with the city road and the hospital so the people can directly go the hospital through the connected line

The public car park and the staff car park can be access from inside the hospital which was not previously there as both the public car park and staff car park was united in the same space

From the both images we can derive that bus station, public car park, staff car park was added after 2007 the road was also changed from straight lane to roundabout and instead of six different bus stop there is now a single bus station which is combined of many bus stop but the one thing that remain the same is the ring road.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the maps, such as the addition of the car parks, the bus station, and the roundabout. However, the response lacks a clear overview or summary statement that synthesizes the changes. You have included some subjective commentary, such as 'so more people can access the hospital and it is more affordable to travel,' which is not supported by the visual data provided. In IELTS Task 1, you must stick strictly to reporting the facts shown in the diagrams without speculating on the reasons or benefits behind the changes. To improve, focus on describing the spatial changes more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. You rely heavily on repetitive sentence starters like 'They also added...' and 'The...'. The use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For instance, the transition between the description of the bus station and the car parks is abrupt. To achieve a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore,' 'In contrast,' 'Regarding the...') to connect your ideas more fluidly and improve the overall progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic verbs like 'added' and 'connected.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'combined of many bus stop' and 'no to less traffic.' To improve, you should aim to use more specific vocabulary related to maps and urban planning, such as 'constructed,' 'replaced,' 'converted,' or 'situated.' Additionally, ensure that you use plural forms correctly, as in 'two maps' instead of 'two map' and 'six different places' instead of 'six different place.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally hinder the reader's understanding. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('two map which shows,' 'bus station... was added'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Your sentence structures are mostly simple or compound; there is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits your ability to demonstrate grammatical range. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation. Try to incorporate more complex structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, to describe the changes more effectively and accurately.
