IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The two maps below show road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons wherever relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps illustrate the reconstruction done on the hospital road connecting to the City hospital over the period of 3 years, starting from 2007 to 2010.

Overall, in 2007, there were total 6 bus stops, with 3 each on the east and west side of the hospital road , whereas in 2010, the hospital road was broken down to construct 2 roundabouts, one in the north and the other in the south. Lastly, in 2007 there was a single car park available for both staff and public was located in the east, but in 2010 the car park for staff and public was placed at different location.

Firstly, the three bus stops to the left and right of the hospital road, each, was reconstructed into a bus station on the left of hospital road (west), and staff car park area on the right (east). Next, the public car park was placed in the north-east direction, in 2010, which in 2007 together with staff car park was located in the east direction.

Finally in 2010, two roundabouts were built on both ends of the hospital road, which was a new development as compared to the road of City hospital in 2007.
