Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the task. While you have identified some key features, such as the addition of roundabouts and the changes to bus stations, the description is underdeveloped. You have not provided a clear overview of the major trends, and the lack of detail regarding the specific locations and changes makes the summary incomplete. To improve, ensure you describe the spatial relationships more precisely and provide a more comprehensive summary of the overall changes between the two years.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'Another side' used to introduce new information. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the spatial changes described. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and paragraphs, and ensure that your descriptions of locations are clear and logical for the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'added', 'changed', and 'constructed'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'their was some bus stations' (should be 'there were') and 'joining at city road'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the maps with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more specific terminology related to maps and urban planning, such as 'intersection', 'junction', 'relocated', 'extended', and 'infrastructure'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The maps illustrates', 'city hospital had not many road'), article usage ('a city hospital', 'at hospital gate'), and incorrect prepositional phrases. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
