Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some key features, such as the new roundabouts and the changes to the car park, the description is underdeveloped. You have missed several details, such as the specific locations of the new bus station or the changes to the road access for different types of vehicles. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview of all changes shown in the maps and ensure the response meets the length requirement to allow for full development of the information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into an introduction and two body paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', but the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition between the bus stop description and the car park changes is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices to link your ideas more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You rely on basic verbs like 'built', 'constructed', and 'remained'. There are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'Bus stop was dismantled which was location in western side'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to map descriptions, such as 'erected', 'demolished', 'relocated', or 'transformed'. Additionally, ensure you use correct prepositions when describing locations (e.g., 'located on the western side').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding article usage ('a roundabout', 'the western side') and sentence structure. For instance, 'Bus stop was dismantled' is missing an article, and 'Car park which was together for staff and public' is grammatically incomplete. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures. To improve, focus on mastering the use of articles and relative clauses. Try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using passive voice correctly to describe the changes (e.g., 'A new roundabout was constructed').
