Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the introduction of roundabouts, the bus station, and the separation of the car park. However, the response is incomplete, as it ends abruptly mid-sentence, failing to finish the description of the 2010 changes. While the overview is clear, the lack of completion prevents a full analysis of the data. The comparison between the two years is attempted, but the sudden termination significantly impacts the overall task achievement, as the final details are missing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. There is a logical attempt to sequence the information chronologically. However, the abrupt ending disrupts the flow and coherence of the final section. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In detail' and 'Furthermore', but they are sometimes used mechanically. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task, but the lack of a concluding sentence or a completed final paragraph limits the overall cohesion of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, using terms like 'layout', 'significantly developed', and 'rectangular shaped'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'by entering in the city hospital' and 'in middle of the city hospital'. The range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic descriptive language. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise collocations and a wider variety of vocabulary to describe spatial changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are consistent issues with pluralisation, such as 'two roundabout' instead of 'two roundabouts', and 'bus stops in the left and right sides'. Preposition usage is also inconsistent, for example, 'in right side' instead of 'on the right side'. While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. The incomplete final sentence also leaves a grammatical fragment, which detracts from the overall accuracy.
